I signed up for everything but the drag strip. I too have never done anything like this and want to give it a go.

this is what I do. last year I signed up for everything, but didnt partisipate in the drags for more than 2 runs during warm up.

I say, they could use the extra money!

I say for sure do it all if you can.

No doubt, do it all. I'm not even a "car girl" (meaning that I don't get into racing), and every time I watch them run an event I start itching to get out there. It just looks like so much fun!!! If you can do it all, do it. Just experience it, even if it's only a few times. You don't have to kill your car on any of it. We see A LOT of people leave in their cars, no damage done, after running all week long. And if something happens, you've got tons of help nearby.

My troup is getting larger.
HD is comig wih me and now I think one of my sons is on board.

Schmoo, you're in Columbia right? If you're goign to go to Indy, you'll probably want to caravan with the STL3S crew!

hmmm, hmm, helpful! 120 to take her out practically in a race setting. being able to go over a hill on the wrong side :w00t: sounds worth it.

yes, i've already been thinking about it. that'd make the drive much nicer. what time do you all usually leave? i'm looking for a nice calm drive there.

i've never done anything quite like it either. there're never more than four other 3s's at any meet i've been to. plus all the 3s owners preforming on the track,nom

As for registration, it's definitely not a one-shot deal. You can even register on-site if there is enough space, but you'll pay considerably more if you do that. You can register now, get your hotel, then go ahead and register for the road course once you decide it's well worth it. As some people have said, 5 hours on a road course would cost you a lot more somewhere else. It's really a good deal. You're not on the course that entire time. They go out in groups, usually 15-20 minutes long with a 2-5 minute shift between groups. I imagine this year we'll go for 15-minute sessions and do 5 each (there are usually 3 run groups). Last year everyone got an hour of track time, which was pretty darn good.

One other thing to mention... I've never seen someone break down and not have help on-site. Everyone at this event is amazing when it comes to fixing each other's cars, helping someone out with a tow... Last year a few of them stayed in a parking lot after the drags until quite late, then ended up going back to the track REALLY early on Saturday to tow the cars 30 minutes back to the hotel, hopefully in time for the car show. And I think a couple of them did limp over to it... There is never a doubt that you'll have all the help you need. Honestly, it's the reason I've planned it for five years now. When I see that stuff happen, that's what it's all about for me.

fyi, i'm being told on the hotel website that there are no non-smoking rooms available for hotel option B for the 21-26th.

looks like i might just end up staying elsewhere...or crashing at an inlaws. option A is telling me some ridiculous rate of > $120/night.

p.s.

looks like if i'm willing to drive 15-20 min, i can get something substantially cheaper as well by driving north or south on the beltway. since i'm not about drunken debauchery...this might be a better option for me--as i could potentially save $$$ even off the group rate.

The hotel last year was about 15 minutes further as about !/2 the price.


I think I am safe saying that 99% of the people that stayed at that hotel don't want to go back. These are decent hotels and the nightly rate is reasonable. For Hotel A is the $120 on the web or by calling? Try calling if its on the web. If its both please PM Lori with the hotel name(just to be sure)


"since i'm not about drunken debauchery" This really is not an issue. While there are people drinking in the evening it is not a drunken frat party. IMO its not a concern. Some people make it seem like its alot more of a "party" atmosphere than it is. In the past is was but its really very very mellow now.

There are also different groups of people hanging out all over the place. I really don't drink much at all (I'm way too busy during the week to get drunk and oversleep or have a hangover), but I never feel out of place and actually enjoy being out with them. Some groups are calmer, some are more rowdy. Whichever, you DEFINITELY want to stay at the main hotels. Especially if something happens to your car... No place else you'd rather be. Also, we have overnight security at the main hotels. Others definitely won't be offering that. This is a special thing they're doing just fo rus.
