oooo, evilness...lemme guess, 15R or did they just attach you to an apache unit?!?
i wanted to reclass to 15U, but there was a drawdown when i got out so i had to "settle" for 2A333X in the air guard :D
I was going to go 15R, but apparently there's a vision requirement? So I'll reclass to 15R after lasik (which is after training) then go to WOC school. That apache is my brother-in-law's - he's a pilot. Says he can get me flying with him easily due to my ASVAB score. The job i'm going into will get me top secret clearance (15R doesn't, for some reason) and it will be easy to transfer from there.
Adapter is for OBD1, btw.
yup on the vision req...also on the backdoor-to-pilot, i know (knew) a crap-ton of guys who made E5 in their respective classification and jumped into the WO ranks ;)
all of which would have been my plan but for the vision requirement, and when i was in LASIK was not authorized...
...then to top it off they allowed LASIK one year before i turned 35, which effectively made me too old to apply :(
but wooohooo on the OBD1 http://emoticoner.com/files/emoticon...gif?1292867702
Updates? Looking to buy a datalogger
STATE OF THE PROJECT ADDRESS
*****UPDATED 01/11/2012*****
So I'm sure a lot of the fervor and anticipation has long since died, and perhaps some people were still holding on with a thread of hope. I've been silent for a long time, there have been no updates, etc. So, I've decided to relay to you what's been going on.
I began working on a hardwired transmitter, which is still in the mix, but on the backburner. The guy who was working on the bluetooth adapters - rather, my contact - somewhat fell off the face of the earth. I wasn't sure what happened, so I emailed him a about a week ago. I'm not sure how much detail I should disclose, so I'll just say that one of the guys that was working with him is unable to do it now and he lost all interest in it.
SO WHERE DOES THAT LEAVE US?
As of last night (and after much deliberation for the last week) I purchased the rights/unassembled hardware/programming for the bluetooth adapter. I've also modified it and made it about 1/3 as big by using surface mount components. So, it's back on. I've got four days off a week (for now anyways) in which I can work on the project. Expect to get an email soon if you're one of the first ones on the waiting list for the adapter, and even sooner if you've already downloaded the program.
Wooooohooooo...
Today I finished re-designing the PCB. I've shrunk it down to about 1/3 the size of the model that I have. I sent the files off to be prototyped, and should have my copies in hand within a few weeks. After everything is confirmed working properly, I will do an initial run of 100 boards. I also have 13 of the first style coming very soon that will be shipped out to the first few people (after they pay for the board, of course).
So in short... prototypes coming.. 13 people get it before everyone else.. then ONE HUNDRED boards to be made. And here's a mockup of the board.

If only I had an android phone...........
Great job on this!!!
Maybe I missed it but did you port this program over to run on Windows or is it Android based only??
Just wondering if the bluetooth adapter will connect to a laptop/carPC.
If you were on a mailing list, or had sent me an email in the past, you got an email. If not, twelve version 1-style units are available for sale at FrozenApps.com on a first come, first serve basis. I am currently in the process of revising and testing the new version as it has a few bugs - but the only difference in the two is the size of the unit.
Gonzo: Android-only for now.. but it would be pretty simple to port over to Windows/Mac/Linux due to the beauty of Java, I'm sure.
Still very interested in this because it would make my life ten times easier when logging. Hell, right now I almost CANT log due to the cable being loose going into the palm. Will there be any programs to sync it up to an excel graph without much hitch? I would buy, but I need to see some videos of it before doing so. Glad to hear there's an update!
Interested to see how this pans out. I would like to figure out a way to view this via the pioneer app radio 2 which is going to support android, obviously the touch screen on the deck is not going to take over control but it would be cool to be able to view the logs on it.
Doing testing today, hopefully shipping the first batch out tomorrow. Here are some pics:

The third image shows a request-reply on the oscilliscope - the left waveform is a request for voltage, and the right waveform is the reply of 11.98v from the ECU. Also shows a comparison of the old boards (green) to my new design (purple). Haven't even began to test the new ones yet though...
And MADMarc: the logs are saved on the SD card in CSV format, which can then be uploaded to Google docs, dropbox, or emailed. I'll likely have a standalone program in the future as well for viewing the graphs on computer.

Did u get any shipped out? interested in results of final product.
Thanks for the response. Any luck on actual tests w/this guy?
any updates?
People still believe this is happening??
He has a group buy going on that ends Oct 31st.

I've had it working for like... over a year now :-P
ok, did it end up working bluetooth? i dont remember seeing the outcome of how it worked.
Yep. Adapters are available on my website.
Yea a summary or short video clip showing how it works would be great!
Essentially how it works.. you will connect the adapter to the OBD port of your car with a 12V line powering it, either from accessory or constantly on. It will remain connected in your car, as there is really no reason to remove it and you can tuck it out of the way.
Then, you pair the device to your phone through bluetooth and use the software to connect with the device. Pick what sensors you want to log, pick a color if you want to graph them, uncheck "pause". Bang, that's it.
can we get a time frame of how much longer before people start recieving these? someone of us need a logger by Yesterday...
Uploaded an update to the market that adds diagnostic test menu functionality and fixes a few bugs, as well as fixes the hardware link. Enjoy :)
Is there going to be a cheaper USB cable alternative?
Edit: Plus charging feature as previously mentioned.
Thanks
A USB alternative would not be cheaper, as it would have to have a stronger microprocessor to emulate ADB. It's the only way I've figured out that will enable me to transfer bytes via USB cable (and it uses a pretty nifty workaround to do so).
However, the next version will have standalone logging to an SD card, hybrid ECU support, dedicated 0-5v inputs (for wideband, oil pressure, etc), onboard MAP sensor, and a few more bells and whistles. Buuuut... I obviously can't offer it for cheaper. What's the main thing that's holding you back right now?
Any updates to this? Link to site? Thanks
Revel in your time
Do you plan on adding support for hybrid ECUs in the future?
