I had this 10" sub laying around and it will cover the hole just nicely :D its actually very nice fit for a 10" sub ! mounting depth will be an issue for sure

I wouldn't without a grill.
Your biggest obstacle would be sealing the sub properly.
These are not shallow, but require little air space, plus they have a nice grill that you can get

Might be a little too late but the Alpine PXE-H701 has optical input and will do any kind of eq or correction you want. If you don't mind waiting, the PXE-H800 will do even more.
I ve got an impression that alpine EQ´s need also alpine HU to work with
