It is a fairly easy thing to do, the worst thing that could happen if it doesn't fix it is that you now have a push button start available to you. :lol:

can u take a picture of the wires and how you spliced em?
My VR-4 doesn't have this done to it. I don't have the one that I originally did it to. It is just regular splicing, nothing complicated. I even used scotch clips on one with intentions of going back and redoing it with solder and heat shrink, but never got around to it. It still works and has had 0 issues.
If I cut the black wire with a yellow stripe instead of tapping it and feed that directly to the ECS switch, that will disable the START position from the key correct? Any electrical side effects to doing it like this?
If you did that you could only start the car with the button. You couldn't start it with the key anymore. But it looks like that's what you are going for.
