No you do not need to pull the motor to do the 60k service.
Flood car, or someone left the windows open for years. That's my guess. NOT worth it from my perspective, but I won't knock someone who is determined to take on a project like this--provided he/she understands the situation, cost involved, and the expertise required.
Yes the Windows have been open but I won't shoot down the flood theory. I'm 25 and just wanted to have something to mess with and get running. Interior and looks and all that can come later...
If it's just something to tinker on and you don't mind doing all the work yourself...AND you're aware that it's probably going to cost about as much to get this to OEM spec as you would spend on a nice 2g stealth TT---well then go for it. I have a hard time believing it was 1 owner. That looks riced to hell...and that's usually something you won't find an ORIGINAL owner doing to a car...especially one from 1992 or so.
LOL, try throwing a couple turbos, and intercooling piping in there. Once you dig into it you will find room, and ways around the lack there of.
THe factory manuals are free to download, and Stealth 316 Home is your friend. :p
You can definitely see that the odometer was rolled back. No reason the 100,000 digit is halfway rolled over. I'd guess at 127k miles, but it could be even more.
Coop thanks so much for the link. Ipd. I plan on just getting it running right. Looks and speed don't matter yet lol
or it has 1,027,000 miles on it!
get ready for that knowledge to expand rapidly ^_^
this will be a love/hate project. it's going to need a new interior. it's going to to need a lot of underhood work.
take on the small things first, complete one at a time. make a list of parts that can be repaired vs replaced (new vs. used). clean up that alternator. clear out the crap from under the hood. buy the 60k service package. spend a bunch of time reading about everything you can on how to do it. ask questions. have fun :D
I've got a junk yard literally right next door to my house, so I can get most body parts and some engine components. Looking at this talon I saw.it appears to have the same motor. Can talon posts be used? There's also 3 3kgts, and 4 stealths of various years
