oohnoo - Large SMIC's :)

The cx racing piping kit has 2" pipes all the way. The tapering is done using simple silicone couplers. The dnp kit however has tapered pipes which makes it harder to adapt for intercoolers with 2" piping.

I'm using the cx racing pipe kit with a set of gene smic's and apart from the horrible fitment of the intercoolers this works quite well.

Interesting. There was a thread about upgrade smics a while ago. Did this spawn from that thread?

I have to wait till my car gets back from the shop as Ray did't have a single car there that I can test it on. Either they had the FMIC still on or if it was off the bumper was off also. I did stop by the shop where my care was and did a quick test fit. The mock-up I had was 8.8 wide and fit without any issues but it's going to be tight on the passenger side with the ABS there. Once the car comes back this week I can take my time and make it work.

Cool, on my car I would not want to remove the ABS, attempting to keep all the original features on the car (only missing active exhaust). I would have to agree with Ray hitting the numbers with stock SMIC's and piping, 1-3/4" would only help.

Yes you are correct in that the CX Racing setup uses reducing couplers. I'm guessing that you wee able to get them on Gene's 2" piping with to much trouble. Only one I can see giving you a hard time is the one that goes down on the drivers side if you still have the ac dryer. Would it have been better if it was 1 3/4" piping?

It was really tight on the drivers side but not so much due too the thickness of pipes but rather because the pipes on the intercooler were welded on at the wrong f****** angle.

Sorry for the language but those intercooler fit my car so badly that it took days of modifications to get them properly installed.

I need some kind of ducting setup. Either using the stock plastic ones or some kind of sheet metal. Otherwise, I don't see any serious benefit as the air will tend to want to pass around the IC instead of thru it.

No reason the stock ducting won't work with these.

yeah I'm pretty sure my oil cooler is doing nothing at the moment, I need to duct it too.
