I think Old Man Merritt said the BS delete basically shook the shit out of all the bolts in the engine on his TT car (eclipse?). I remember Willis saying something about needing to safety wire everything in the engine bay.

I just think its cool that you did the swap. I dont care if you dropped in a 3 cyl GEO motor, I respect the dedication and the work it takes to do something like this. Have fun man.
Yes, it vibrates and rattles everything loose. Jacks trans says to keep them. Every other DSM/EVO shop and high power car owner says to delete them. I was back and forth. Still am. It's crazy smooth at idle now with balance shafts and I have solid mounts.
I was told that the bearings are basically impossible to get aligned correctly after removal. Even with the Mitsu tool. The balance shaft spins at twice the engine speed. I will make power to 8500 rpm in the next setup. Balance shafts spin bearings.
Pretty freaking cool. I love the style, too. No "I'm thinking about doing this", but rather "BOOM here it is; done".

IPD had better be paying attention to this...
wow. some (banned) members should be VERY happy with this...
Sounding good and sounding wrong are two different thing lol. I'm sure 2jz sounds very good, but I have seen someone install one in a 60s camaro. How wrong did that sound lol. I also wouldn't expect this car top go as fast as sub 2000lbs dsms though. It still sould weight in the 3200-3300lbs if not more. 4g63 is just a bit lighter than 6g72. You probably wouldn't notice a lack of tq since it's an auto. do the auto trans have same casting on GTO and DSMs? maybe GTO trans have stronger case and transfer case?
It's just a 2g DSM auto trans. All stock right now. I'll swap the shift kit from the 6g trans.
I need to drive it before I can comment on the simple half shaft mod I did to make sure it works. Unfortunately it's puking oil everywhere so can't drive it. Doesn't surprise me. Everything on this longblock was jacked up from previous owner but I didn't want to put too much into it if I couldn't get it to work. If I'm pulling it to replace oil pump gaskets/seals I'd rather build the bottom end while I'm at it. No time for that right now so it will sit:(. Sux because I was excited to drive it.
