All fairness though Alex, most folks don't do rocket science. Outside of engineering, computers and some business applications, calculus isn't a skill the average populace would use in their every day.
That said, 3/S owners do seem to have a high concentration of engineers/engineering majors.
That's one of my favorite things about it. Helps keep the riff-raff out
Make sure you get a good grasp on this stuff, or you are in for a world of hurt later.

What vroom just said is the best advice you can get. Understanding derivatives and how to read graphs is the most important part of calculus in my opinion. If you can do those you can generally BS your way through some of the later, harder, stuff. Calculus is based around derivatives and integrals. Get your head around those and you're golden.
And if/when you learn series, permutations, and combinations... Learn that too and it can help you with understanding proofs in the later calcs. I never took the time to really learn and series stuff and it made learning proofs in some of my graduate level courses quite confusing haha
I'm definitely trying to get as thorough an understanding as I can and thankfully things have started to really come together the past few days. I enjoy math and think it's a pretty good skill to have, and plan on taking it as far as I can. Ironically though, Calc I & II here are hardcover weeder classes (Calc II apparently being one of the most failed courses at UofM) for the College of Engineering, but most kids that go into CoE place straight into Calc III so blah.
I haven't used much outside of derivatives and integrals in my higher level engineering courses. Calc II was the hardest and I hated it. Calc III and Engineering Stats were fairly easy but I disliked Diff Eq and Linear Algebra. As long as you make it through all of the math and science courses the first two years it won't be quite as difficult to grasp from there on out.
