Let's see:
Indiana Jones 4 - DIAF
Jurassic Park 2 - DIAF
I could list more, but suffice it to say, he's not as great as he used to be. Movies with him as executive producer are better than ones where he directs...at least within the last decade.
I would put "Zwartboek" up against anything he's ever done. (And seriously, if you are even remotely a fan of war-time movies, you are doing yourself a dis-service if you haven't seen this movie--easily 9.6/10). And most of ya'll hate Verhoeven unfairly. Heck, Ridley Scott would do a better job than fucking Spielberg.
Maybe it's because the Vogon ships aren't yellow. Maybe because the movie isn't organized in precisely the same method as the book. Douglas fucking Adams himself co-wrote the screenplay. Don't tell me that it's not true to the source material. Sure, tossing out the source material happens a lot in hollywood (Queen of the Damnend, for example), but that's what you get when Ann Rice isn't involved in the screenplay at all.
Sorry, but 6 ways to sunday, HG2G (2005) still gets at least 8/10 in my book. Haters and purists gonna hate. Heck, compared to the Star Wars prequels, HG2G movie is fucking carbon-copy-cannon.
