Eh, I thought that 05 version was sufficiently entertaining. Not the best thing I've ever seen, but not the worst either.

production, writing, cinematography, special effects(biggest fail), sound editing and pretty much every possible way a movie can be made. I tried to like it so hard since that was one of 3 books that I've actually read cover to cover and liked.
Spielberg could do good with it. I think something like this is right in his wheelhouse.
I'm struggling with your post so much so that I'm doubting we are talking about the same movie.... but we have to be. lol I loved the writing, sets, special effects. I thought the movie worked perfectly. I have only just started listening to the radio show which I'm finding pretty funny but haven't read the books.
Yeah, just like he did with War of the Worlds. Great movie with some poor acting (from the kid), fucking rubbish ending.

I just watched Frozen. It was quite good & very entertaining.
I'm also a sucker for musicals (and subsequently Idina Menzel) & theatre.
On the note of how much singing was actually in the movie, it's only about 1/4 of the film (102 minutes):

Over 24 minutes of the film is dedicated to musical sequences.
i'm seriously wondering if echo is trollin' me now. come to think of it, spielberg hasn't really made a good movie since the 80's.
sketch - any reason your avatar is looking straight up at some dudes crotch? Kinda weird......

no I thought it sucked. it's just a matter of opinion since there is no quantative measure of movie quality that's all we have. then again it could be because you're on the opposite side of the planet and like the toilets flowing backwards everything is opposite. so good movies suck and bad movies are good. :dontknow:

Saving Private Ryan and Schindlers List are 2 that imo aren't even up for debate on "goodness". I thought with the exception of the completely shit ending Super * was good. it had that old school 80's feel and while I thought the general premise of "Cowboys and Aliens" was stupid it was entertaining for what it was and had great production value. granted he's usually just a producer these days his influence shows through.
