LOL, yes.
My turbo is blown to smithereens. Oil coming out of the exhaust like crazy. Going to have to get it rebuilt. :( Or I could always find a 14b for the time being. Depends on what I find as most cost effective. I just want to get this thing driveable before the twins come. :p

Also, the turbo has 0 miles and no shaft play. I can't believe that a couple of minutes of higher than normal oil pressure at idle would do this.

Do it now!
There was a Guy on Turbo lab selling one. Search via Facebook for Turbo lab
The restrictor for 1g's is actually in the stock feed line. It is really easy to over oil a td05 cartridge. Have you made sure that there are no obstructions in the oil drain? Lots of people use rtv on them, use to much, and is blocks the inside of the tube.
Not sure what Bryan is charging these days for a TD05 rebuild. Give him a call and ask. In my mind, $300 for a rebuilt, warrantied turbo that you know will work is a much better deal than some POS $100 turbo that's 20 years old and has been through god knows what.
It's funny you say that because I was just about to post that I need to check the oil drain by disconnecting it and letting it drain while running to see if the flow is sufficient. I triple-checked it before installing to make sure it was clean.
I knew about the restrictor in the oil feed line. Unfortunately, as specified earlier, the previous owner retapped the block to a larger thread size so I can't use the stock feed line as the banjo is now too small to fit and a bigger one won't fit in the line.
The restrictor I bought for the turbo is the same size as stock. I should probably get a new oil return even though this one checks out properly.
$100 for a freshly rebuilt 14b isn't unheard of, but I understand the point you are trying to make. I'm admittingly being a cheap bastard and am also concerned about the turbo I have not being a true MHI turbo. I'd rather buy a real MHI TBH, and new MHI 16Gs are too expensive ATM, which is why I've been thinking about the 14b route. Honestly I feel more comfortable getting a blown 14b and having it rebuilt instead of this chinabay 16g if it is indeed blown.
But again, I need to check the oil return before I jump the gun on that. If I really want to be persnickity I suppose I could check the oil pressure at the feed line with a gauge, but I'd have to order all that from Summit.
I won't be able to do any of this until after Jan 2nd, so I won't be able to check the oil return until then.
