I do think that Gruden is extremely over-rated. He gets more credit than he ever should for the Super Bowl victory with TB, but I'd say he doesn't get enough credit for his success with Oakland, but that was a short run so ahrd to say.
Longer period with both teams shows he is about an average coach who had one very good year with his "own" team (although it was Davis' team) and one exceptional year with Tony Dungy's players. SB aside, pretty standard stuff considering the modern game of parity, you would expect a team is going to make the playoffs 3-4 times in a 10 year period. Take the SB season out of it though, he's probably a .500 coach. Smartest move he made was not going back into coaching and just taking the ESPN gig.
