Interesting. I've always wrapped the ends with electrical tape and used a dremel cutoff wheel, never had any problems with fraying that way.
Jumped the car a couple of days ago and it started up smooth as butter. The turbo was still smoking slightly but not as much as it was before. I think it just needs to burn off the excess oil that leaked into places it shouldn't have. Regardless, I don't expect this thing to last forever anyway. Ebay 16Gs do not have a reputation for longevity, but I won't complain since the previous owner threw it in with the car for free. :D When this thing gives up the ghost I'll either send it out for a proper rebuild/balance or buy an Evo III Big 16G for a couple hundred more.
Nice. This thread needs more pics.
Got the bumper and turn signal lenses on tonight. Having a hard time aligning the front bumper properly. It's hanging down a little bit and it's driving me crazy.
One of the bulbs in the turn signal lens is out so I need to replace it. Started to put the downpipe on but I'm going to wait and try to start the car again and let it run long enough to see if I can burn all that oil residue in the turbo or confirm that it is blown with 0 miles on it. :p
Would like to get the brakes bled in the next couple of days before I go out of town for 10 days for Christmas/New Year's. Will see if I can entice a friend with beer and cookies.
