Wonderwoman. 9/10. I agree with Alan--it is by far the best of the DC movies. It's only a notch behind Kingsman for sheer enjoyability & pleasure.

Not quite. Alien & Prometheus were great. The former about people on a routine mission & all hell breaking loose. The latter about people trying to discover the origin of the species, and all hell breaking loose. Not a lot of direct tie-ins between the two..but enough to make it clear that we're seeing two fleeting glimpses of different areas of one huge picture (background story).Quote:

...and then there's AVP: Requiem. Which is just a lame excuse to make a low-budget slasher movie by slapping "AVP" on it.

8.5/10. could have used a little more dialogue but that's about it. I've decided that I like pretty much anything Nolan does.

8/10. pretty damn good movie just to much comedy. don't get me wrong it was hilarious. just not was I was looking for.

I'm gonna disagree and say Wonder Woman was at least a 9/10 and Dunkirk was barely a 7/10. Wonder Woman is easily the best DC movie ever made--and I like Burton's Batman movies. Dunkirk wasn't as descriptive as I was wanting/hoping for. Yes it's great to cover how so many were evacuated. It would have been better to cover the story of all the men/units who were NOT evacuated--intentionally--so that everyone else could get away. That would have made for a much more gripping story.
I liked Thor. IMO best of the 3 Thor movies, it was just a bit too silly in parts and some of the humor seemed forced.
I still think Winter Soldier is the best Marvel movie yet. I would love to see what they would have done with Cap 3 had Marvel not forced the civil war plot into it.
Finally saw The Shack.
I liked it a lot, and recommend it highly, even to non-believers.

Star Wars: TLJ. 5/10
I said a year ago that this movie was going to be a ripoff of 5...and it was. Without giving spoilers away, I was able to think of about 12 different plot elements that it stole from e5 (and that's not to mention the ones it stole from e4 or e6). Horrible, horrible, horrible. I haven't seen a sequel shit on its predecessor this badly since Alien 3...and that includes tripe like all the Marvel reboots & Alien Covenant.
Thor Ragnarok. 7/10
Enjoyable. Nothing to write home about. Predictable, slightly campy. Compared to E8 ^ that I watched the day prior...this is Oscar worthy.
Kingsmen: The Golden Circle. 7/10
Ok. Nothing special. Didn't quite have the flair of the original. About on par with what I expect for most 1st sequels.

Ep 6. the Emperor is killed, another Death Star destroyed, Vader comes back to the light side and the Alliance wins the day. all led by a couple of white guys. circle back today and the writers/producers got the current cast getting their collective asses kicked almost the whole movie.

The conflicting RT scores shouldn't surprise anyone. I've pointed out to numerous people the scores of STD (Star Trek Discovery) vs. those of The Orville. The Audience score is really the only score that matters. Anyone who has been paying attention for the last couple years knows to safely ignore the critics' rating.Quote:

As a trek fan who has seen EVERY SINGLE FREAKING EPISODE OF EVERY SINGLE TREK SHOW, PLUS EVERY MOVIE, AND QUITE A FEW OF THE FAN-MADE MOVIES/SHOWS...I can emphatically tell you that The Orville is the true heir-apparent to Trek. STD is STINO; The Orville is Trek purged of the references & lore from the actual Trek universe--so as not to incite copyright infringement. The fans get it. The critics do not.
So when I see very similar scores on both sides for TLJ and STD...I'm vividly aware that those ratings are most likely accurate.

So why the huge box office? Well it's SW. Disney hasn't bankrupted the universe yet, so they're still milking it dry. E8 would be a middle of the road action/adventure flick at best--if it didn't have the SW tag. You have LEGIONS of people who will go watch it--SIMPLY BECAUSE IT'S SW. That said, they don't have to go back, they don't have to recommend it, and they don't have to like it. I don't think this is a case of review bombing. This--to me--is the logical result of fans PISSED because Disney took the piss on them.
I was watching a review of Firefly recently. 10+ years removed, this show still holds up remarkably well. Rebirthing it or adding on to it...would inevitably cheapen it. It's sad that we didn't get more, but it's also true that it didn't overstay its welcome. And this is precisely what has been happening with Wars. The Wars universe has exceeded its welcome by decades--and it's not getting better. Apart from a few fleeting "pander to the crowd" moments like Yoda fighting Dooku and Vader in full-ass-kick mode in R1...there's really nothing truly Wars left. Disney is pissing on its desiccated remains.
Christ, explain to me in what rational universe does any critic give TLJ > 90% rating? Without that blessed SW tag, this movie would struggle to get a 5/10.
