Took even less time than I expected..

Texas DC Manny Diaz fired, replaced with Greg Robinson - SBNation.com

Greg Robinson is predictably the new (and former) DC. Another comfort higher and a tried and true yes-man for Mack... He's such a good DC that no one wanted him and he was serving as an "analyst" for us.

Too bad Mack couldn't have done this in the middle of 2012 or even this past off-season so we could have a decent DC... but who would want to work for Mack? Harsin got out as quick as he could.

UT needed to can Mack Brown years ago. After losing this badly (to BYU?!?!?! of all teams!) I bet he's got 6-7 games to have a STELLAR performance or he's gone too before the season finishes. All the chatter from Longhorn fans is different than it usually is after a loss, usually there's some clear reasons/excuses as to why, and some credit given to the other team for what they did right. But this time... no one has a damn clue how this could happen, and we're all pissed about it.

Based on Adam's explanation of the game, it would appear Texas puts the special in Special Teams.

WV did a solid job of that as well. Cost them the game. Just happy that they didn't get blown out like everyone predicted. Also, the defense was outstanding in creating 4 turnovers. Unfortunately, the offense returned that favor in giving up 4. Oh well, moving on...

I was disappointed really..Would've been nice if they were still highly thought of/ranked when Tennessee plays them in a couple weeks.

That's my bright spot of the day: in the AP poll, Tennessee got a vote towards being ranked for the first time in 3 years..

From the speculation I've seen, Mack ignorantly meddles with all of his coordinators and Duane Akina can't teach zone coverage and doesn't care to integrate his man coverage DB's with the rest of the defense (there's a reason he would be coaching DB's at Arizona, or out of a job all together, if not for Mack)...

In this instant-classic gif from the BYU game, I think Mack is talking about Subway foot-longs, and Manny is sitting there taking the petulant bitching from Akina professionally. Allegedly, pre-game, Gerg Robinson recommended 8-9 in the box to stop BYU's only real threats... But Diaz started in nickel and Akina allegedly wanted to keep 5 to 6 DB's on the field (undoubtedly to cover his own ass). Power struggle! YAY!

The only good coaches we've had recently were Muschamp and Harsin, who each got the F out as quickly as they could. If not for all the NCAA crap around Chizik (who also left rather strangely to go to a shit hole - Iowa State), I'd rather he came back to be our DC... He came and spoke to our players just before the season started, so there's probably still some goodwill there. He probably turned the shit storm down because it would effectively end his chances at ever coaching again if he couldn't improve it significantly (which is unfair but perception is everything in coaching)

Brown also insisted that the 40-21 loss to BYU -- in which Texas gave up an astounding 550 yards rushing -- didn't raise any pressure on his own job.

Brown, who had never before fired an assistant in midseason, seethed over the loss and declared immediately after the game he would evaluate Manny Diaz's job when he watched game film. Brown watched it twice overnight and fired Diaz on Sunday.

Texas linebacker Jordan Hicks said he was "shocked" by Diaz's dismissal.

Brown dismissed any concerns that Robinson's defenses at Michigan in 2009 and 2010 ranked among the worst in the country.

"They had really bad players," Brown said.
