wolf of wall street
6/10 - sadly let down. Everyone raved about this and it was mediocre at best. Drugs and naked women were cool for about the first 30 min but that was literally 90% of the movie!

ST: Beyond. 7/10. As my buddy said, "3rd movie, they destroyed the enterprise. That means the 4th will feature time-travel & an environmental message".
/nuff said
any of you D-bags see Suicide Squad yet? I heard it was(to paraphrase Charles Barkley) "turrible".
I didn't like it at all.
The Joker was a joke. ANYONE could have done the same exact performance.
Harley out acted the rest of the cast twofold combined. The whole movie was just..... bad. Enemies were turrible, fighting was turrible, every plot device in the movie had 30 things wrong with it.
I saw Suicide Squad Saturday and I have to say I think that the Critics have really blown it with this movie. While I am not a fan of the comics I know who the group is and know most of the characters from the comics that I have read. The movie does not give you and in depth introduction to most of the characters.I felt that they did a good job of getting the characters right. While most did not get very in depth intro/origin sequences I do not feel it was required to enjoy the movie.
The story at it core is the Dirty Dozen with super villains. Full origins and details on each character are not really needed. All you need to know is that they are bad people forced to do a job for the government.
I felt it was a fun summer action movie. Its not a light hearted marvel style movie. It should not be, Its dark with come funny moments mixed into the action.
IMO best DC movie to set in the current movie universe.
Not a fan of the joker.
finally got to watch The Revenant(sp) the other day....
5/10. very ok. frankly I would have turned it off but I kept thinking, "ok it's about to get good..." but nope. it's basically 2.5hrs of Leo D getting the shit kicked out of him and Tom Hardy talking like he's got a mouth full of gravel. so boring.
I still haven't seen it, and don't plan to any time soon. Your review is pretty much what I anticipate out of it. Pass.
Jeremy
I'll have to watch suicide squad and get a feel for what I think of it. But I 110% agree on the Revenant. The fact Leo won an Oscar off of that blows my mind... that movie sucked. I'm not sure I would even give it a 5/10.
Rogue 1. I'll give it 7.5-8.0 out of 10. It has a LOT of plot elements from ROTJ. Perhaps a bit more original than E7, but where E7 took E4 and mixed in plot elements from E5/E6...R1 feels like they took E6 and mixed in plot elements from E4/E5.
We'll see how it holds up with time. I didn't recognize a lot of the rehash in E7 either...until later.
p.s.
I guess we're changing canon to say "Many humans died" instead of "Many Bothans died"?
Going to see it tomorrow. (R1)
I liked Rogue one more than Force Awakens.
As I watched Force Awakens in the theater I was totally aware that we were watching the plot to A new hope retold. Rogue 1 tells its own story. We know the ending but we did not know the story that got us there.
I didn't get the feeling i was watching E4 while seeing E7 for the first time. It sunk in after that. I DID feel like I was watching E6 plot elements the entire time I was seeing R1. Not the same overall story, mind you--but enough of E6's plot elements to raise an eyebrow. My sister saw it today--I said NOTHING about it to her before hand--and the first thing she said was "it kinda felt like Jedi all over again".
nuff said.
are you sure?

Yeah, I realized that later I'd mixed up the two. Bothans didn't die in R1. My starry-eyed childhood died watching R1.
The Hateful 8
2/10. terrible. beyond predictable and boring. seriously did people like this crap just because it's a QT movie and was bad?
I liked Hateful 8. It was entertaining, I thought. Certainly not an earth shattering movie, but at least decent.
Haven't seen The Revenant. Looks a little boring and for sure way longer than my attention span. :/ I'm sure I'll watch it someday, but I'm not specifically paying money for it.

Suicide Squad
7/10. really I didn't think it was bad at all really. Leto sucked as Joker but that was it. it was VERY ok. :dontknow:
Jason Bourne 7/10
I'm a huge Bourne fan, but they went a bit cheesy with this one. The Fast and the Furious swat truck through 50 cars was dumb.
watched 2 over the weekend.
Independence Day pt2: 6/10.
Predictable, sorta boring but if you really liked the first one(which I did) you might like how they basically pulled a lot of the same lines/scenes from the original.
Warcraft: 7/10
Heard nothing but shit about it when it came out. I thought it was decent. big fan of the games so that helped I guess. Animation was good, acting wasn't bad or anything but I wasn't blown away either(what can you expect?) and it setup nicely for a sequel. overall not bad at all.
10 Cloverfield Lane..... 5/10
spoilers:
so basically you're led to believe that John Goodman has kidnapped these folks and nothing has really happened. then it turns out to look not true. then it looks like he killed his daughter or someone that he pretended to be his daughter and that's what he's going to do with this girl. then she gets out, the aliens invaded the world and she's off to fight them in Houston.
it wasn't "bad" like most bad movies are it was just..... wtf did I just watch and why? if there's no sequel with some serious alien fighting this was the most pointless movies ever.
Logan 9.5/10
I'll start off by saying I only know what little I've read about the Old Man Logan storyline so my experience is based purely off the movie and not off of accuracy. I loved the action and the extreme use of "gore" made the movie that much better in my opinion. Definitely recommend for any X-Men/Wolverine fan.
Lol, yeah the crew I went to see it with all waited through the credits a did 95% of the other theater goers only to be disappointed by no after scenes.
Who needs a post credit scene when they has a pre movie scene. ;)
Edited pre movie scene [emoji53]
Fate of the Furious
I'm not entirely sure how to rate this one. It felt like it was missing something without Paul Walker, but it was still a very good movie. It had a lot of comedy in it, I probably laughed halfway through the movie. There was a ton of car destruction and lots of action with some the typical over the top moments.
I guess in the end I'd give it a 7.5/10
The Masters of the Universe(He-Man). c.1987
3/10. Jebus I forgot hoe incredibly bad this was. funny this was sorta a kick starter for Courtney Cox.
Wonder Woman
9-10 / 10
IMO its the best DC Comics based movie since Batman Begins.
1) they got the character right.
2) Story is consistent and is not a jumbled mess like the last 2 DC movies.
3) They got all the small details right such that the story and characters just worked.
Alien Covenant. 5.5/10
Troglodytes complained after Prometheus, so Scott was forced to make a movie that wasn't really groundbreaking, edgy, or even raising new questions. It's a very dark movie...but fairly predictable. Seeing Kenny Fucking Powers in a key role...was a bit disharmonious for me. Clearly, there was malevolence around prior to David getting involved..but none of that was explored. Now it's just a psychotic robot who thinks he's "Creating" (ala Sander Cohen in Bioshock). Had potential...but weak minded fools who want spoon-fed their cinema experience...ruined it. Noomi Rapace was killed off (unlike Ripley, Scott's new female protagonist doesn't live). Then Rapace is replaced with a bunch of colonists & the plot starts to mimic some of the events of "Sunshine" very early on. Very, very disappointing & possibly the nail in the coffin of this series...at least until some hollywood bigshot decides to resurrect it because hollywood has NO original ideas.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2. 7/10. Predictable. Enjoyable. Not as good as the 1st one...but ok.
Raid on Entebbe. 7/10. Horrible camera work (it's a low budget movie, after all), but it's a great tale--and a true story. Possibly the youngest I've ever seen James Woods in any movie. I'm convinced I now have to watch "Last King of Scotland", as a kind of coda to this movie. Don't f**k with Israel.
Long time no see IPD!
This place reminds me of broken dreams, failed promises & life taking a giant dump on everything 3/s related I've ever been involved in. I clearly seem to be unable to choose wisely when it comes to modifying cars, and I suck at turning wrenches. So I'm doomed to me-too grocery getter shitestain fuckery that automotive manufacturers somehow have trolled the consumer market into wanting.
There's two years of my life i want to forget entirely. 2006 and 2011.
Are you still in the military?
