Not sure if I posted this here, but here are what my periphery bits are set to. This get's me no driveability issues, and no CEL with a 92 Federal TT, with absolutely no emissions equipment hooked up or installed. Should be known this is on the chromed rom, and thats why the warmup retard bit is disabled.

Has there been any progress to using 98-99 SL ECUs for flashing? And is there any more specifics to what features are not included/ unwanted side effects in using SL ECUs?
EDIT: I dug more into this thread and found your answer:
A: The SL ecu lacks the drivers for the stock boost gauge and BCS
So it seems to me that using an SL ECU is reasonably possible. Maybe you would consider adding this to first post? Might encourage more SL ECU owners to experiment and add helpful feedback.
EDIT EDIT: OK I've read enough on this, I don't even want to bring up this subject again! I'm going to try this on my SL ECU though.
Has anybody had any negative side effects running this on an SL ECU? I know some features won't work, but are there any other downsides?

Is it possible to wire in a say 3bar GM sensor and run the stock gauge from that accurately? Looking to get rid of my aftermarket gauge in conjunction with the LCD boost controller.
The MAP sensor input exists on all flashable ecus. The boost gauge driver does not exist. What this means is you can log boost with evoscan but even if you hooked up the stock boost gauge, it'll never show anything.Quote:

There are many people running the SL Ecu no problems.
There is an input for boost monitoring... The MAP sensor is for emissions. It tells the ecu when a certain vac is in the manifold and the ecu uses this to operate the EGR solenoid. In my ROM this is disabled. Any sensor can be wired to this MAP sensor input (pin 92) and the MUT still reads this data. This is where I have EVOScan setup to log.Quote:

I think I was the first person to try a VR4 ROM on an SL ecu and it worked fine (I had a starting issue at first but that was a mechanical issue with my car). The trump card in this whole debate is the VR4 ROM is coded with it's own filtering subroutines. So it shouldn't matter if the hardware filtering is in place or not. The code will still read the same. I haven't tested this enough first hand to feel comfortable recommending others are safe in doing the same.
