Todds car also had a white powder wheen the first engine died looked like the stuff C16 leaves on ur exhaust tips. I guess that was also from the alcohol. It kinda threw me at the time also...even the turbine wheels/exh housing was white with the residue or w/e it is.

The engine all apart smells a little moonshiny now, so I'm interested to see the fuel contamination level, hopefully they get the sample soon.
In your vid when you skipped the one rod I knew it would be a, "Look at me!!" moment.

in fact before the heavy knock that is what it sounded like. It progressed to a knock heavy enough you could feel it in the clutch pedal.
Seriously though Chris, this makes me cry a little on the inside to see that.
I got the same white residue/powder running ethanol. It coated my turbine and hotside when I took things apart. I too figured it was normal with alcohol.
Tore engine down to bare block. No apparent signs of detonation. The piston that has the bad rod was slightly rough looking up top. You couldn't really feel it, but it was a little rough. I think it was from kissing the cylinder head. It doesn't look like detonation damage to me.
I didn't pull the pistons from the block, but no broken ring lands that I can tell so far. Cylinders aren't torn up bad, a little wear on the skirt area.
Heads look okay, no scoring on the cam journals. I don't think a ton of material got through the oil, no scratches anywhere.
Put the heads back on for transport and cut my pallet down to 24 by 24 and loaded her up. Pics later.
Well if anyone wants to bid!
Cost to Transport a 1 Pallet to Ronkonkoma
Would you guys get the cargo insurance? Maybe for $1500? The core on the heads would be a lot of they get lost or damaged.
