Got the gearbox back in the car today. It was tight but removing the bolt trough the front engine mount gave me a bit of extra clearance and it popped right back in.

Nice work so far. I really want a SCE center diff with a front LSD too. There is a bolt on the trans to the right of where you bolted it that makes it easier to remove/install. Good job either way.
Pretty sure he used the same attach point as documented in the "gatecrasher transmission install method"
Forgot that you had a 6 speed haha. On the 5 Speed the lift point is to the right of that bolt closer to the gear selector assy.
It's whichever bolt has the cutout for the bolt head is the one to use, that makes it much easier to remember which one to use for which tranny, lol.Quote:

Got the car back together tonight. Tested it on my lift and everything worked fine so I decided to go for a short ride.
It's only a few degrees C outside here at the moment so I drove really carefully to let the car warm up. But I only got a few kilometers before I started hearing the most horrible grinding noise. It got louder and louder and louder. Didn't matter if I was in gear or not. I could see in my mind how the metal shawings were going around in the gearbox destroying every gear and bearing inside of it.
In pure anger I drove the car home fully intent on dumping the darn gearbox in the sea. Got home and lifted the car back up on the lift. Started the engine, selected first gear and everything was quiet not grinding noise :confused:
Got out of the car and noticed that with the SCE center diff only the rear wheels turn when you have the car in the air. Carefully applied a bit of handbrake to get the front wheels turning and viola there comes the grinding sound again.
Turned of the car and rotated each wheel by hand. Turns out something has happened to my front left brake cause the brake makes a horrible grinding sound if I turn the wheel. I was really really really relived (to put it mildly) to find that this was problem and not the gearbox.
My gloves were full of grease when I removed the front brake discs so I cleaned them with alcohol when I put them back on. I don't know if this is the cause reason for the horrible noise or if I've managed to misalign the caliper in some way. I'll have to investigate that tomorrow since it's 02:15 in the morning here now.

I've found they cause for the grinding sound, it was embarrassingly simple. While removing some of the final leftovers from the Blaupunkt stereo/phone/navigator thingy that once infested my car (see the first posts of this thread) I had managed to slightly bend the metal shield behind the brake disc.

The grooves in my brake discs made the sound even worse.
With that sorted I wired up the controller for the WBO2 sensor.
Added an extra wire to ECU harness.

For power I decided to use the cables from the 12 volt accessory outlet that I replaced last year with the rotary switch for the LCDBC.

I placed the controller itself close to the grommet in the floor. This allows the lights on the controller to been seen through the vents in the panel that usually cover this area.

Hi mate,
i have a problem regarding the diff ratio also.
I own a GT3000 V6 NA auto AWD, I plan convert to V6 TT 5 speeds manual, currently rear differential ratio was 3307, if I converted to TT do the original diff still suit for the TT engine? or must get the 3545 ratio diff ? please advise

If you want to use a 5-speed TT gearbox then you'll need the 3,545 ratio rear diff. You can keep your rear diff if you use a 6-speed gearbox with the US gearing.
