I can only assume you are talking about your C6 (that was the last car in a LONG line of them that I saw you buy)...in which case, I stand by my statement.

Can't race from less than 50mph with 6xxrwhp eh? That doesn't make sense...there are plenty of 600-1,000rwhp cars that are daily driven (at least here in Texas). I don't race from a dig because it would simply stress out my drivetrain. I "could" but eh..

What does it matter, my car is slow....because sub 7xxwhp isn't much anymore.

It's not that you have to rev the 6g to make power. The point was being made by someone was related to auto drag racing. If you make a ton of power at 6 or 7k in a 6g auto you'll have the power to trap say 145mph but you'll need ~9000 rpms to get you there in 3rd or some monster 28" tires.

Why wouldn't you just run a bit more tire, upgrade the valvetrain, and reset the shift points in the ecu?

6g72 reves to 8500 no problem. Maybe not with the shitty crank but Matt reved his car to 8500rpm with that massive stroker. He could do 9k rpm but the trans won't shift. How do you think Nelson trapped 170mph with 26" tires?

It's an AUTOMATIC! He has 3 gears to use under power. He needs high rpm if he wants to go fast. His 6g72 build he pulled out was AUTOMATIC.

Just for reference. I raced a built stroker gsxr1000 in an auto, and was even with him at the 1/8, now on the back end, he put some distance on me.

For people that don't know about racing. When you set up a 1/4 mile car, you want the gearing, and power to max out, right at the traps. If your car has enough power to trap 140, gear it so you hit the limiter at 141.

you guys read the internet too much if you think it is easy to make power at 9000-10000 on a 6G series engine. Nelson is pretty much the only one making power beyond 9000. There just has not be enough R&D. It isn't as simple as getting the engine to turn that fast.

No, but there's a reason so many people do... No one said he said the 6G engine was crap, if anything these DSM fanbois have been the ones saying that. I and a few others just think this doesn't make sense from a pure performance aspect.

It's a smaller engine with a less favorable torque curve in a heavier car than what it was built for. From a pure "Wow he did it" point of view that's pretty cool! From a "I wanna go fast point of view" no...no this is actually the reverse of what you should do.

You have posted a few times that I can remember in the last few years and just about every post I've seen is to bash someone or post an animated gif. I'm not sure why you feel you are the authority on everything 3/s related because you've sold a lot of them.

On the R34, it's not an apples to apples comparison. The GT-R historically makes great power and has a sophisticated 4WD (*edit) system to make up for the added weight. It was a poor example on your part.

Ray reved his 3L to 9000 too with stock damper, but there was never need to rev the 6g that high. Trans won't shift and You have plenty of power under curve to 8000-8500 rpm. The only people who failed to rev to 9000 were the one with stock engines. Making power there do need better cams and manifold. We'll see how high my engine would make power with my setup. I tried to make my manifold runners as short as I can.

....cool! I like engine swaps, as long as its not pistons into a FD..lol

4g is a great engine.

Roadrunner converter in Phoenix. They are quite possibly the best company I've dealt with. They bent over backwards to get me setup.

I had a bolt back out, and wipe out a pad about a week after they did my converter, they built me another converter for free. Then, I had a gear failure about 2 months out, and wanted the converter taken apart, and cleaned. I called and asked them how much, and they did that for free. Best service I've ever had. Not to mention any work they did was done in one day.

That's Ray though. He knows his stuff and can drive very well. There's been maybe him and Permanent Grin that have gotten into the 10s with DR-750s? What about the hundreds of DR-750s that have sold but yet nobody is running 10s? One guy ran a 10.71 with DR-650s and an auto. Just because Ray can rev his car out doesn't mean the average Joe can. There's more to it than that. You really need to know what you're doing. The 6G motor doesn't need to rev that high nor do you need it with a 5 or 6-speed. With the auto you will because you're gear limited to however fast you can top out 3rd. It seems for our cars an auto is good for TD04s and small TD05s. Any bigger than that and you can't trap fast enough because there's unsolved issues. Great idea that's cheap but less than stellar delivery.

If you're making any kind of power with RWD you really need to get a standalone with a good traction control to help put the power to the ground. Take a look at how well people are doing with Supras, Vettes, etc that have Pro EFI installed. Plenty of them are making 1000+RWHP and keeping up with similar powered AWD vehicles like the R35 GTR. It has to be a finely tuned system though. Just making the power alone will give traction issues unless you're doing 80+.

Not sure what you mean by that. Ray build good engines and great tuner So if you have an engine that's correctly built and a good tuner tune it you'll be fine. I think T4 reved closed to 9k rpm too and all these cars were running damper from factory that don't do a whole a lot of damping. I know Xwire also reves his engines to 9k once a while in 1st. Now if you want to rev to 10k rpm then I don't think even 4g can be that reliable up there. That's drag car territory only. About running 10s on dr750 then you know how 3/S owners are. They don't want to launch their cars because they don't want to break anything. I was at NG and people were running 14s and 13s omnn a built 400-500hp cars .lol

^Said "unresolved" issue is the fact that the trans is limited to 3 speeds because OD can't handle WOT. Had the 3000GT debuted 15 years later, it would have probably come with a 6-speed auto...and that would have worked just fine.
