Jack test first and see if there is anything loose when you move the wheel.
Could also be something worn in the strut like the upper mounts or perch.

MY main consern right now if is something that will fail horribably if I drive it for a few days while its hotter than hell out. Sounds like worst case it will just make nioce and virbration as long as I don't drive like a nut.
It could be your A/C trying to come on.....LMAO!! :p
might be a worn cv joint....
head's up though. if you do replace ball joints, tie-rods, strut mounts, etc....you'll want an alignment.
Alan when my bearing was bad it also would make the clunk on decell
My NA was making a terrible "clunk" when going straight but over a bump....like a speed bump or small uneven place in road. Also did it sometimes when just taking off. It was the end link.
Did you ever figure out the clunk?
