Jack/plywood lower an pull through wheel well
sin, if you have retard strength then freaking pull it off. turn it clockwise by about 40* and it will come off without too much trouble.
i dont understand the point of the thread when you already knew the answer? there is no magical button to push to make it just come off on its own
If you have a jack with a large enough platform, just use that to support the weight and have another guy under the car shimmy it off the engine and keep it balanced. I never have a problem doing it this way. Putting it back on is another story though :\
i dont know the answer thats y i started this thread. I want to know ways that people have done it. Just because i said i had retard strength doesnt mean i have the right steps, or technique to make it easier on myself. Doesnt it make sense to ask for tips than struggle trying to do it on the fly?
you rotate it once you take out the bolts and slide it off a bit. i believe its clockwise. thats about the only trick, otherwise you just muscle it off. its not easy (and im not a little guy).
i just think its funny because getting the axles out and everything else is the hard part, but you can obviously do that. now you slide the trans off. no secrets, no gimmicks, not really any tricks.
A 2x4 across the engine bay with a ratchet strap around the tranny is what I've done in the past, works well. Trying to reach over the fender and muscle it out while leaning over can lead to a dented fender. (Ask me how I know.)
well, i got a picker from work lol. I bought a strap and as soon as i get a minute ill have her off. thx for the helop guys. The "trick" i was talking about was clocking it that angle your talking about. Thx again
put the car on jackstands, get a jack under the trans, and wiggle it off. lower the jack... pull out from under car.
