My need to move the oil cooler was because of mounting DSM sidemounts, not because I wanted or needed to move the oil cooler for lower temps. At the time, there were also no oil cooler kits available, hell, no one even knew which fittings were needed. The stock location for the oil cooler was incredibly stupid. Moving it to the front dramatically increased the airflow across the unit. My opinion is that if you're going to run autox or road race, then it could be a worthy mod. For street driving or 1/4 mile racing, it's not needed.
Jason, no oil temp gauge. Wouldn't have made a difference though, as I have no readings of when the car was stock with the cooler behind the stock intercoolers.

How easy was it for you to install it. I haven't got a chance to take apart my front bumper yet to really see what I'm dealing with but do you think it was basically easy? Where did you relocate the horns to? I have this same kit sitting in my room and I just need some garage space to tear into it. PM me instructions of how you did it if you want :D
Here are some pics of our front mounted oil cooler, installed on a customers Spyder VR4, that is also running a FMIC. Requires no relocating of anything else, just bolts on.

But if you are going to be running a FMIC, then a side mounted oil cooler will be the most efficient. With the FMIC and front mounted oil cooler, during hard road coursing, our customer with the Spyder VR4 did note some minor rise in temps, but it quickly went away after a short cool down time.

My intention was to fit it without hacking the oem ducting too much . I only had to cut the ducting at the center a little (2nd pic) and heated it with a heat gun to bend it into the shape I wanted and fit it did.
I didnt have to drill a single hole nor make any brackets just bolted it on, lucky huh ?
That's pretty much exactly what mine looks like and how it's mounted. Having the inlet/outlet on the side is good and bad. It's good because when you change your oil, you change virtually all of it. It's bad because it means no oil pressure for a fraction of a second longer at start-up.
