So far I'm probably around $11k into my Stealth (including purchase price.) I wouldn't take less than $5000 for it as it sits, which is funny because it sits in horrible shape, and when I bought it 9 years ago I paid $4500 for it.

paid $5500 for it in 2003. i'd be lucky to get $1200 for it based on insurance estimates (if it were ever totaled).
i'm in the same boat with paul. i had 30k into it BEFORE the shit i started this year. spent way more than i should have. if i had to do it again, i'd probably get a 96 tt and ATX convert it.
Paid $20,000 in 2007. It's now insured for $18,000 and have spent about $8000 on repairs and modifications. Where I am now I could probably get $18,000 for it if I had it proffesionally detailed. Probably closer to $15,000 if I was in Melbourne where there are more of them.
Somebody needs to get a damn 3S as the hero car in a F&F movie!
Of course, I have the same sad story as everyone else...
Paid $4500 (not bad)
Spun bearing (bad)
Collection of parts for my non-running garage decoration...
Turbos, fuel, aem ~$4000
used built motor from DR $3500
So $12000 in a car that doesn't run and still needs $2500 in parts for my build:)
And when it's running, $14500 for a car that is still worth $4500. Gotta love a 3S;)
Paid £6k for mine (1997 UK 3000GT) 2 odd years ago
Last total was £16k in (~$25,000) and still climbing...
Worth no more than about £10k here in the UK - but the mechanical experience it has given me is priceless!
Paul
Purchase price was $14,000 in '06...
Between then and the spun bearing I spent around $2,000 on mods, maybe another $1,500 on maintenance (120k included)...
Spun bearing build has ran me about $9,000 between the end of '09 and present-day...
Add purchase tax + loan interest and I'm right around $28,000, and I'm sure I've forgotten a bit. Probably couldn't sell it for more than $11k on today's market, and it's marginally quicker than a BPU 9B car right now. :) But it has potential!
Oh man, thank you for this thread, hahahah. It only makes us all a little more sad :P Bought the car for 3000 with a spun bearing. That spun bearing was just the beginning and I have spent probably around 7-9k in just new parts. Add in the goodies for another few grand and I am STILL having problems. FUNK!
