Correct,
The 6 speed one is longer so can't be used with a 5speed TC. The difference is minimal and still leaves plenty long enough spline engagement.
Ran a 5 speed DS on my 13t car for years like that.

I'm actually starting to worry about my shifter box. On my 5 speed when I go to put it into reverse it taps the side of the housing. Which means when I install the 6 speed, it's going to have to move over even further to get over to the next gate. Which seems physically impossible. Anyone have any experience with this?
I simple cable adjust will cure that.
