It's a dsm 2g auto trans. It will tolerate 8 sec 1/4 mile. Not much pics of progress; I was too busy working and fabbing.
Finally..a real motor powering a 3s bodied car...absolute genius..get us some weight numbers when possible!
I'm hating this so much. lol the car should handle better with lighter front. I wonder how much the car weights. How are you going to fix the biggest problem? The car sounds 4 banger on a car that shouldn't. Like a muscle car that sounds like a v6. lol I wonder how fast you can make it go. It'll be cheaper than vr4 engine for sure.
It will sound just fine with big cams. It's not like our v6 actually sounds good. We just deal with what we have.
It will go as fast as your wallet will take you. I'm not shooting for the moon on power. I just want to be able to rev the shit out of it and run out 3rd gear in the auto. The 2.4 will spool a 600hp'ish turbo as quick as a 3.0 spools 16gs....and rev to 9k if needed without anything special done to it. Just springs and cams.
Setup changes will cost half as much and take half the time. But it won't make half the power;) Parts are actually dyno tested back to back so you know what your money is paying for.
And yes, I lost some weight up front.
Should've figured you were up to something crazy with how long it's been since I've heard from you :P
Too bad my finances are tied up or I'd probably jump on your turbo set up.
My 2.3 spooled a 600hp turbo to 20 psi in about 2 seconds sitting still. And didn't feel lazy at all driving around. The torque converter choice in a turbo automatic car makes a huge difference.
This is an excellent mod for what he wants out of his car. I'm looking forward to some track times out of this car, and many kill stories. This is a build you can take to any local track and bracket race if you want to.
Man, when I saw the thread title, I thought it was gonna be some mook asking if it can be done, or how to do it.
You've gone and done it. Nice!
Racecar shit.
I can build you one and then you can see the details;)
It's custom mounts, custom high pressure PS line, coil/PTU wiring, AEM cal, half shaft mod, and a little magic dust. Next is AC and a built engine.
