At this point I don't know if anyone knows the causes of them blowing after being repaired. Mine started acting really weird on me. First off it would always turn on when I turned the car on and never saved any of the previous settings. Next, when driving for some time the display would randomly flicker different items on the display, Likw a disco light or something... I pulled it apart and none of the caps were leaking or anything. I am replacing them all anyways. I should have my parts in the next day or so,

Gonzo I have a question for you regarding yours.
When you said it would always turn on, was it turning on to 69* and AC on?
If that is the case then that issue is likely unrelated to the repair. That's a memory issue. I had a similar issue to this on the 92 RT I 2g converted all those years ago and it was related to the IOD.

On mine it would always turn on at i think 72 with the AC on. Yeah it si a memory issue almost like the unit is not getting constant power after I turn off the car. I have to look at the wiring to see what is going on with it also.

Yeah 72 that's right. That constant issue could also be causing the flicker issue.
You are not experiencing ECU resets or radio preset resets are you?

nope, Just issues with the DCC. I am in the process if finishing up the rebuild right now. Hope to have it back in the car tomorrow.

Well, I'm just following the rebuild instructions. i did notice that none of the caps in mine were leaking so I may have lucked out. Then again, it may be something else I missed.

I received my re-repaired climate control unit back from Galaxy last week and installed it before the Polar Express pulled in and the temperatures plummeted. I have run the car for a total of 30-40 minutes so far and the display is still working. I have to say they do a good job of turning the part around quickly once they receive it. They were also quick to say they would fix it when it failed again the first time. It's a bummer I had to pay for shipping twice because that ran up the cost of the repair; however, I will be happy if it continues to work properly. It looks like the frigid weather is going to be hanging around for the indefinite future, so I don't know when I will be able to take the car for a long test drive. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will last almost as long as the original unit did...

Just wanted everyone to know the second repair is still holding up nine months later.

I replaced almost every cap, diode, the two transistors, the voltage regulator... and, the 1 Ohm resistor still heats like crazy, so I just put junk yard DCC :)
