Cleaning up anodized nickel

OK, here ya go.
Clear zinc (and yellow) run about $45.00 to do 80 lbs of parts nuts and bolts. even the rubber hoses with metal ends can go in the tank.
Not been here in a long time. But as a builder, we do every single nut, bolt bracket and what ever. Done an entire car with yellow as well.
This is our curent 850 HP build. So everything must be right. Plated part not reachable for cleaning are all clear coated. Nut and blotls clear coated after assembly.

Those parts look great, where are you located to get that pricing? I have a big batch of parts and all the places I have contacted are much more expensive than what you said.

Ask for Barrel plating. Parts that really don't fit in the barrel will be hung most times at no extra charge.
Ask for a "Lot charge" and the "number of lb.s" they can run in a lot.

Great timing for this thread. I have an entire cars worth of bolts to get replated. The bin weighs 75lbs so $45-$55 to get everything plated is a great deal! Better than sanding and painting each piece. Painting can come off while torquing the bolts during re-installation.

GTWizard who did your plating?

I thought it was much more expensive to do plating. I will have to check into it then.

This is great info. I am doing an engine bay restoration with my new engine install and would love to just pick up my old and make look like these. I guess a bolt inventory is recommended before trowing in all together. By the way is there a mitsu bolt & nut part list spread sheet out there for our cars??

@GTWizard - So the plating company charges by the lbs? So fill a box, weight it and they will plate whatever is in there regardless of it being hung or tanked? I'm really liking this is true!!!

The process is Zinc Barrel plating- cost varies greatly by area

Also keep in mind that plate shops most times are in those parts of large cities that we do not like to go to.
Most often the south side. LOL.
Those will be older shops, but will for sure have the best prices. these older shops most times DO NOt have a web site.
So try the old yellow pages. I know. Some of you are saying "what the hell are yellow pages?". LOL.

I got a hold of a local plater here in NC. They do barrel plating at $50.00 for max 50lbs. Basically that is their lot charge for making a single run. They were the only ones I could find within decent driving distance of me.
