I'm fortunate enough that my company deals with Prospot machines. So any type of welding I need to do I have access to. Will be V banding my exhaust for easement of removal.
But I do think you're work is really clean. Alot better then a big population of self welders!
Oh yeah, wasn't a rip on welding at all. Just looked sort of like a spool gun job and I was going to ask how it went. I dig DIY parts so I love seeing those little projects! Shoudl work great!
I have been reading and researching welding recently in preperation for buying an entry level tig machine hopefully this summer. I watched a couple videos on that alphatig 200amp and have my eye on that one. I believe that machine can be run on 110 or 220, can aluminum be welded with 110 or will I need to end up running 220 to the garage?
With everything it depends on material thickness. However, it will have no issues running on 110 for aluminum. I own that welder and run it on 110 all the time.
Nice. I don't really see myself working with anything much thicker than intercooler piping. At least with aluminum.
You've got no issues at all then. I think it'll push 150amps on 110.
I have an Eastwood TIG that I've been running with 110 exclusively so far.
Working on installing a new set of components up front- made up some more directional mounts to aid in imaging.

You would accomplish more by getting Timing Alignment added to your system.
Taking rods back to machine shop to adjust (loosen) the rod side clearance to crank. Not something I hear talked about on 3S forums but I'm learning more about recently and is critical for proper oil flow to rods. Most of mine were too tight and that is the only way for oil to leave.
Dropped carbon hood and fiberglass hatch at body shop today to get painted badass, kilder green:)

I was pretty pissed, but It wasn't a big deal as Ive got a welder. I called up the shop and expressed my disappointment in the employee's dishonesty. The manager called me back the next day and set up an appointment at a different shop to get it aligned for free. So after welding the camber adj ear back on I dropped it off at the shop over night and picked it up the next day. The alignment is absolutely perfect, exactly to the specs I wanted and the car drives better than it ever has. The squeaks from my rear suspension are also gone too. I was so happy with the job I dropped off a case of beer to the 2nd alignment shop. Needless to say I know where I am getting my car aligned in the future.
Ouch! Dishonest people suck. Glad you found a good shop as a result though. Whenever mine is up and running, i'll lkely take it to the same place.
Hey bloodlust, what camber and toe specs did you have them align it to?
Front Camber : -1.4
Front Toe : 0.0
Rear Camber : -.6
Rear toe : -.15
Im on Gr2 struts with megan springs up front and Tein S techs in the rear. Stock TT sways and front and rear strut bars.
That is real cool the 1st shop got you an alignment for free at another shop though.
Yeah, It was pretty cool. The guy from the second shop called me up and told me he would take care of it.
In other news I swapped in some LED brake light bulbs and now my voltage needle does not move when I apply my brakes haha. Going to find some bulbs that work with the turns and wire in some resistors. Been Thinking about getting a LED kit for my high beams as you can switch them on and off faster than HID's or regular bulbs without damaging them. Anyone used a LED retrofit kit yet?
I just ordered some new ST rotors & EBC Redstuff pads from the Ninja!! Not only will it move again, but I'll be able to stop nicely now, too! :D
There is a set of stoptech callipers and rotors on ebay at the moment I think.

Installed a new leather shift boot and knob, made me realize how nasty my interior has gotten. Since the car is parked for winter I'm going to give it a good interior scrub.
3000's don't really need bigger brakes. They need good pads, and an 800lb diet.

The led bulbs I put in my tail lights are a direct drop in. No hot spots, they look stock just a tiny bit brighter and respond faster when I press the brakes. I am very happy. They were $32 for 4. I just ordered 4 turn signal bulbs of the same design, but a 1156 socket instead of the 1157 for the brake light socket from the same seller.
