Thanks for the information I hadn't noticed that. I ordered DP4032R pads which are listed under D2 Racing but you as you say it seems that DP4006R pads listed under K-Sport would have been a better choice.

The outside dimensions of the hood are within millimeters of the the stock hood so fitment is not bad at all. I didn't weight the hood but it's very light I'd say a 1/3 or a 1/4 of the weight of the stock one.

The summer season is coming to an end here in northern Sweden so I thought I'd sum up this years adventures. Went to the local track one final time last weekend, it was the last public event there this year.

The car has come a long way since I started working on it last year. After I replaced the brakes this season it's been able to take everything I've been able to throw at it without any reliability issues. I'm quite happy with the power it's making even though I'm still running stock boost levels so I think I'll skip any more tuning related mods, at least for now.

My second son was born just a few days ago so work on the car will be limited this winter but if I get enough garage time my main priorities are:

- Supercar Engineering center diff (to reduce understeer)
- Lighter propshaft
- Stickier tires that don't overheat on the track

I've had a lot of gearbox issues with this car in the past so I'm a bit reluctant to crack open my gearbox now that I've finally got my hands on a good one. But the understeer coming out of the corners on the track really needs to be cured...

Does anyone have any wise words to share regarding installation of a new center diff?

I was reluctant too but had a slow leak and I was determined to resolve it so I replaced both axle seals and resealed both the bell housing and mid case. It's really not hard at all to get to the center diff although you do have to remove the mid case. The way to approach it is to first remove the bell housing and front diff (need to remove the gear shift shaft and the detents for this step). Then remove the poppet cover, then mid case.

The trick to the poppet cover is to loosen all the bolts for it about 2-3 mm and then crack the rtv seal with the bolts still attached. This keeps all the springs and balls from flying out. Have a magnet ready to collect the balls as you release them.

The mid case has two alignment pins that have to be driven halfway out. I used a 1/4 inch extension rod which worked great.

We had another kid in september so I've had very little garage time over the past few months. The only thing I've done on the car recently was to install a set of clear cam covers:

However there is one piece missing before the official wrenching on the car begins and that is a SCE torsen center differential. And for that I need a center differential housing as a core so I took my my spare W6MG1 transmission from shelf today and took it apart.

A big thanks to Jimvr4's post above about the poppet cover. The trick of loosening the bolts halfway and then tapping the cover worked perfectly.

Your IC pipe routing works great with the clear timing covers :bigthumb:

Congrats on the center dif too. I think Nate just put one from the group buy in his 93 car. If I was racing at all I would probably put one in. Consider putting in the bellhousing brace right now if you haven't done so :)

How are those clear timing covers holding up? And accumulation of oil, grime, dirt, etc?

Thanks! The gearbox that I have on the car came with this brace installed when I bought it from Taz a few years ago.

It's currently -20° C cold and about 50 cm of snow here right now so I haven't been able to test that yet. I checked the original cam covers and they weren't too dirty so hopefully the build up of dirt isn't going to be so bad.

if cam covers get that dirty, i'd be worried about your belts. that much grime in there is indicative of bigger problems.

After replacing the rear speakers last year while I did the battery relocation I ended up with good sound in the rear of the car. However the stock front speakers sounded really muffled in comparison so I finally got myself a set front speakers from the same series as the rear speakers.

I was very lucky when it came to the fitment of the door speakers. They cleared the holes in the door panels by just a few millimeters.

All I had to do in order to fasten the speakers was to drill new holes in the stock speaker adapters.

The cables for the door speakers and tweeters were soldered together behind the stereo harness. Since I was going to use separate crossovers I had to do some changes to stereo harness. Since I have the LCDBC mounted here too it really looks like a tangled web of cables.

I mounted the crossovers in the center console just behind the firewall.
