I've watched it a hundred times and I can't grasp how he's popping the board. Looks close to a flick, but I still can't see where it's happening, even freeze frame by frame.

He's popping it with the crutch doohickey on his right arm. Still looks really BS because they slow it down right when he's doing it as if it was edited.
I'm a skateboarder, and this is basically a pressure flip using the crutch instead of a foot to flip the board.

It's basically a flip trick that you don't control with your front foot, but rather the foot that pops the board.
