You can certainly go cheaper. It would be like using/destroying a Mercedes E Class when a Daewoo Lanos would suffice.

A good cleaning and some tweaking it will probably be fine. I sunk my CR500, I turned it upside down, pulled the spark plug, rotated it a few times to get water out then flipped it back over and fired it up.

Took a few pond skimming baths with my rm250. Tip, drain, start, try again.
