barking carnival, my longhorn blog of choice, discusses pre season B12 selections... Calls Geno Smith the #1 QB in the B12:
Some Thoughts On Phil Steele's Preseason All Big 12 Team - Barking Carnival
Quote:
Global Big 12 observations:
The talent level at DT, TE is weak
RB, S, DE, OL are just OK
QB, WR, CB, LB is good
The lack of defensive names for Baylor, Tech, and Kansas tells you something about their 2012 ceiling
Iowa State picked the wrong league to have great LBs and poor DBs
Baylor's overall offensive infrastructure is very good. If Nick Florence is solid, they'll score plenty of points
UT, OU, OSU are several rungs above the rest of the league defensively
We've got a helluva center in Joey Madsen. Our o-line should be much improved this year and I believe he'll really shine.Quote:
Look for Baylor's Ivory Wade to become the best center in the conference after his move there in the Spring
There was a lot of discussion of LJ over Geno on the ESPN blog. The consensus was Geno hasn't taken a snap in B12 play, so that's why Steele went with LJ. I can accept that.

Joe Madsen: 2012 Remington Watch List
Ivory Wade isn't mentioned. Considering he's never played center, that's pretty understandable.

Might want to rethink the expectations at TCU this season... The defense has lost SO MANY important players this off-season.
TCU Football's Offseason Losses Mount: Now 6 Likely Starters Gone - Barking Carnival
I see 8 coin-flip games (that's generous against WVU, OU and Texas, IMO) on their schedule.
damn! who knew Christians loved drugs so much...
