Weight reduction isn't one big 500lb part you ditch. It's 250 2lb parts.
I've already done most of it. ABS, cruise, AWS, crash bars, misc brackets, washer fluid f/r, rear wiper, gutted hatch (except cargo cover so it doesn't look gutted) all deleted. Lighter wheels, no cat, aluminum single shot, full cloth interior, power antenna swapped for small fixed, 4g64 have all replaced heavier components. Some sound deadening. SRS computer and some wiring.
Already have a carbon hatch and fiberglass hood that I have not yet installed. Will get coilovers instead of springs eventually and delete ecs. Need to do a full wire delete on the components I have removed.
I'm approx 3450 now (weighed what I could on removed components and estimated on others) with at least 100lbs left to do that are relatively cheap and easy.
This list keeps full interior (except hatch), 18/19" wheels, AC, climate control and stereo. Exterior appearance will remain unchanged as I will have the hood/hatch painted to match body color. I will also keep active aero which I think are part of the character of the 1g. (I won't bitch if anyone deletes theirs though.)
Everyone has seen my car and dans car.......we both are about equal in weight. Its heavier than you think. The lightest my car has ever been was 3056 lbs back when I had aluminum suspension and cfds.
I have weighed almost every item removed and added to my car and have logged it in a spreadsheet. I have not weighed the car but am going by the listed curb weight of 3790. Donnie has weighed his 3350 stealth and it was very similar weight reduction mods as my car except I have the addition of an auto but subtraction of a head and turbo. I think my estimation is accurate but will weigh it eventually. Whether curb weight is accurate or not, I have removed over 300 lbs already. Beyond another 100lbs or so is when it gets more expensive.
