Here are some ideas to improve cooling in general as mentioned before . (Also better aerodynamics)
Vented hood: you want to have a bit of a lift in front of the vents so it creates a low pressure area behind it.

The colors here actually indicate air velocity, but since air speed is related to pressure (Bernoulli affect) it gives you a general idea of the air pressure contours. Blue areas are areas of low airspeed (hence positive air pressure) and the red areas are low (or negative) air pressure. Notice that at the base and center of the windshield, you have hardly any air movement at all. In fact, in this area the air is actually moving backwards into the A/C intake vents that are at the base of the windshield. This is why the A/C vents are placed at this location, and that's why at high speeds, even with the air off, you can feel air flowing out of your A/C vents. The air is being forced into the vents at the windshield because the pressure there is higher than the pressure inside the cabin (which is close to atmospheric with the windows open).

well, for the record I'm not a fan of venting back under the car....definitly prefer it to go out a vented hood (why I bought the Scoote II) and for the 5 hours I had it attached a LOT of heat came out of it.

I didn't read the whole thread cause I didn't catch it form the start. But from my experience, I was a true believer of the SMIC and didn't want to go FMIC.
First I went from stock SMIC to DSMIC, then to Dejon SMIC, then Gene's SMIC and finnaly ended up with ETS FMIC at last. And now I can say that I should have gone right away for the ETS at first.
From one set-up to another I was able to run more boost before getting knock each time, but when I went with ETS FMIC it made a huge step up front, I need to say I made some other mods in the same time, it could affect a bit the results, but all in all the FMIC was the makor mode and now it allows me to run a lot more boost on pump gas.
The only downsides I saw with going to FMIC is to have lost a bit of spool-up* and some pressure pulsing at part throttle. If I was to make my car a lapping car, SMIC would have been a better choice, but for all other application FMIC is the way to go IMO.
* As soon as I went with DR-ARC2, I gained back more spool-up then what I had lost before. Now I can almost say my turbos are spooling too fast for the car.

I think the FMIC vs SMIC depate is more personal preference than anything else.
