Nothing is sacred on the demotivator thread!!! The last thing I posted there trashed college liberals, but was hilarious nonetheless. I think I even posted one trashing VT once (either here or on 3Si). It was called "lunch-fail", and was making fun of the "lunch-pail defense".

Surely there are dicks at every program, but I posit that WVU's fans are somewhat unique in having an abnormally high rate of violent crazies per capita (whether they are bandwagon local fans or drunk students I cannot say). As I said in the other posts, our rivalry with Miami, GT, BC and UVA is far more relevant today, but I've never heard of anyone having a bad experience at away games. Conversely, I have yet to meet someone who has not had at least one bad experience in Morgantown. That rate seems extraordinarily high. Since most of your conference-mates seem to have similar stories, I think it is fair to suggest that you have some of the craziest fans in the college football world. That said, I already admitted that my "evidence" for this is entirely anecdotal and I cannot prove my assumption.
More importantly, while the bit about WVU fans was subjective, the rest of what I've said is objective, and a perfectly reasonable question IMHO. I stand by my conviction that your state and team are in no way "Southern". I am also still curious as to how your fellow West Virginians came to self-identify with the South when the state was born out of a rejection of the confederacy. It really strange.

The fans of your football team claim that your team belongs in the SEC (or Big 12) in part because you are a "southern university" with "southern traditions". It seems perfectly fair to question this in the college football thread since the only context in which this is even remotely relevant is in terms of conference realignment. Besides you brought up "fake southerners" in a thread about Australian wildlife while espousing the legitimacy of WV "southern identity" - now you want to hide behind relevance and say it is unfair for me to question that?
