Hey, I'm Luke, A proud owner of a fairly messed up, undrivable 92 SL. Tomorrow though I will be driving about 200-250 mile to test drive a 92 R/T TT. Really hoping for some good advice what to look for before I say sold! Which is what i wanna do now already lol.
Hello LUKE, I'm your father...... ;) <--- HATE that winking smiley!
Welcome :)
As a previous owner, I think you pretty much know what to look for....but as far as "maybe" what might be an issue with a TT....
TT trannies can sometimes be notchy (due to previous owners BEATING on them). Check for smooth gear transitions in BOTH directions..
Ask if the transfer case recall had been done.
Check the oil (TT's are harder on oil than the N/A's). A lot can be told from oil (and the previous owner). Is it low? Is it REALLY BLACK? (all signs of neglect)
Good luck on your "test drive" and hope to add you to the TT club!!!
Bob. :)
<--- 3000gt VR4 owner :)
I get the "Luke i am your father" line often lol. And as for the tranny and transfer case, it was upgraded to the 6 speed. Turbo cars throw me for a loop still. My SL was awesome(cough)when she ran.
Scratch everything I said. The people that promised they would take me to go look at it all backed out, change plans or got sick. Sick i am fine with but the rest grrr! I guess I'll just have to wait now :(
I was confused at first when I registered to buy parts in the classified section and discovered my access was suddenly restricted to the max... silly me :P At least it'll filter out the brainless I suppose.

All good things take time :] A tip I'd like to throw in is to check the turbos. Any oil inside or any wheel play is bad! If his turbos are bad, chances are he hasn't really taken care of his car and you should expect a very expensive fix.
Hmm new look. New owners? Looks similar to ViperAlley.com I was a member of the old forum. I currently own 3 Stealth R/T TTs. I like modifying cars and until I upgraded to a couple supercharged Viper GTSs the Stealth was my baby. Not as fast as my resto-mod 440 Duster, my 500bhp Stealth was the winner during winter months here in BC.
I got 120,000 miles on my Hunter Green TT and bought a 50,000mile Black (red leather int) 91 TT. I've added 3" donwpipe and Bluetooth stereo. Recently I re & re'd the ECU from my Pearle white TT becuase the low mileage 91 ECU crapped out. The Green and Black TTs both came from San fransisco area. Bought my Green one from a CEO who now owns a 780bhp Mustang GT 500. I own a Dodge Viper GTS ACR that has a dyno sheet showing 802rwhp/930bhp with Paxton sc and Nitrous. That Viper is for sale with only 26,800mi. and a screaming deal at $50K. More details can be found on my facebook under Terrificted.

My Green Stealth R/T TT was on the January page of the 3SI calendar last year.
