I personally wouldn't destroy the laptop like that since in my house it would have been my money that paid for it. True story: One of my coworkers has himself a problem child. Kid was playing on his Nintendo DS when his mom called him to go do chores. Boy didn't listen. Dad told the boy "If you don't listen to your mom right now, I'm going to throw that game out the window." Boy didn't budge. DS then proceeded to fly out the window with enough force that multiple pieces went into the street. Boy listened to dad every time he was told to from then on, even though he had to replace the DS since it was a gift from the boy's grandma.
I guess a question I have for parents is:
Why does your kid need THEIR OWN laptop? (...and most likely plus a smart phone....and possibly plus an iPad...?)
