Has anyone tried fender flares from another platform? I know many platforms use the 240z flares (fiberglass flares are only $200 for all 4). I did a quick photoshop overlay and it looks like our fender opening is too damn big and the 240z is not wide enough.

Anyone try this before or have ideas? I do not want Cianci wide fenders.
There's a Stealth in my area with chrome ones and I want to shoot that car. They don't work with our fenders or any body lines for the matter. Wide body fenders are the way to go.
Not only n but HELL NO. Those are the gaudiest looking things on the earth. Cianci's fenders blow those out of the water in looks.
As I stated, not interested in wide body fenders. Just flares. By the way, I asked for information, not opinion.
I personally think they will look great on a 1g which has a similar angular styling as the skyline pic I posted. I like the idea of fitting some bigger rubber, but I do not like the monster truck look with tires sticking out past the fenders, that most of the 3S owners do. It works for others, just not my style.
The hard part will be finding a flare that will work with our enormous fender opening. If anyone, has suggestions that would be appreciated. Thanks.
Try ebay for some generic ones.. Your probally going to have to cut and modify them a bit.

Yes those are the flares I want. Do you know specs? Body kit looks hideous though!
I got no idea but it works on that car. Don't think they would work on a Gen2 though.
super car has flares and they dont look half bad....for a race car.

Not sure what the E30 and E36 BMW guys are doing, but many of them run flares for the track. I think some use 240sx flares.

the day that someone makes good looking fender flares for a 3/s is the day i die of a heart attack. that goes 2x for widebody fenders.
I do kind like the look of the fender flares... But I also got to know where he got the pods that are above the center console....

that photoshop was based around a Subaru WRX that had flares.
i'd even settle for a tapered flare so that i don't have to modify the bumper/skirts.
the skirts will be fine, it's the front bar that it needs to match with
I agree 100%. The flares should cover all the way down otherwise it just looks halfassed and not nearly as good. And yes looks better when it alligns with the bumper and sideskirts.Quote:

as much as i hate to admit it, i think bolt on is probably better. i HATE having excessive ornamentation/lines/trim. that said, glassing something onto a surface other than FG or even CF is going to crack eventually. expansion rates between materials is different; and between the hot sun and the cold of winter--you WILL start to see hairline cracks.
at least with bolt-on, even painted body-color, you know they're added on. it doesn't give a nice, clean OEM look; but it also doesn't age as badly.

The body shop went to the extreme to prevent the cracking from the different expansion / contraction rates.
i'm happy for you. i've seen what happens though. not every install is the same; some being better than others. and let's face it, we're talking about:
bonding to metal fenders
bonding to ABS side skirts (or whatever they're made of)
bonding to urethane bumpers
that's three different materials. good luck with that. i've seen what happens with bondo over time. this is much more complex.
Indeed, I am happy yet surprised that my hood is held up so well.
The other factor is it would be impossible to put that many pop rivets on fender flares. The amount of automotive epoxy that was also used to bond that scoop was insane.
