simple question,

since its time for new tires:
with the oem wheels the diameter was 25.74" and if I can use 275 x 35 x 18 they are 25.6, so 0.6% offspeed, or at 60 mph you're doing 59.7 mph.

I have a set of the largest moda r5's or 6's (? they look alike) at 18 x 9" width as I recall. On a 92 base NA, will a set of 275x35x18 w/35mm offset fit w/o rubbing? I've been running 245 x 40 x 18's w/35mm offset w/o issues.

if issues can I add a plate to increase the offset and eliminate any issue?

an alternate size appears to be 265 x 35 x 18; which has a 1.7% error, or at 60 mph you'r going 59. If the 275's are too large, I'm pretty sure this alternate size will fit; as I've seen folks running 265 width on the forum.

Final question: does anyone have any experience around the use of vr4 calipers and a 13" mustang cobra rotor for a big brake replacement kit

and can I shoehorn in the 265 or 275 width and this caliper rotor pair into my wheelwell?

1. i would not use 265's. either 275's or 285's--if you want width. I've ran both, and i prefer the 285's, though they are BIG and it's doubtful that they'd fit on a 9" wide rim. 275's looked a bit stretched on a 10" rim, so it might work ok on a 9" rim--but i'm guessing 9.5" is probably your best bet.

2. +35mm should fit fine with 9" wide rims. heck, it probably will fit with 10" wide rims. learn how to calculate offset differences manually--it's a worthwhile skill to have. you can use spacers, but it's highly recommended to use longer lugs if you do. and keep in mind that none of the big-box tire stores will want to work on a car with spacers.

3. tire rubbing is a function of offset and the struts you have. as long as you stay roughly equal to the stock diameter, the only thing you have to worry about is offset. if you run aftermarket struts, you don't have to worry about the perch limiting your diameter.

4. brake rubbing is a function of spoke-design. almost any wheels will work on N/A brakes; but unless you are sticking to wheels of a tested design and size (and yes, even offset, since spoke-design changes between some widths)--you pretty much have to test-fit it to make sure it works. any tt/vr4 calipers can be used on any 3/s, you just have to use the tt knuckle/hubs for them. it's usually a good idea to replace tie-rod ends, lower ball joints, and even strut/strut mounts while you're at it...since you'll need to get the car re-aligned after it's done. i can't speak to using mustang rotors.

Both those tires will fit fine on your 9" rim and you won't rub either with that +35 offset.

Will most likely be ok after the Cobra conversion, too.

I've run 245's on a 9" wheel without incident.

I personally would run 265's over 275's due to the cost increase.

You listed two tire sizes in the original statement, I said both would work. Both will work. 275's is probably best.
