Is it possible to remove the rear mani while the motor is in the car? I recently discovered i have an exhaust leak pre turbo on my rear manifold..... which explains my lack of boost, and why my car sounds like a tractor. If anyone has removed it while it was in the car please tell me how, as i really do not want to pull the motor.

Remove the turbo. The remove the heatshields, then the manifold.
Some of the bolts are going to be a bitch.
Are you sure your leak is there? It is uncommon for the rear manifold to leak.

Its an aftermarket mani, had a.crack before.... Welded it thinking it cracked again

I've got a leak there too. Previous owner broke the studs off the EGR hole and JB Welded an EGR blockoff there. It blew off. Now it's just a hole that's covering my engine in soot.
In my research it's possible but a huge pain to remove. Gotta get the car way up in the air if you want it to be remotely easier.
you can weld that shut while the precat is in the car. Mine actually broke off, so I just welded the hole shut where the pipe went into the precat. Only had to remove the rear intercooler pipe.Quote:

The stock rear mani is more than sufficient for any power output you have for bolt on TD04's, I'd go back to stock and not ever have to worry about it again.
He doesn't have turbos lol.. Just take it out, should be way easier than the TT cars. Only way it can crack is if your motor mounts are bad and your downpipe/headers are all one piece with no flex section.
