whats the easiest way to drop the tranny without a picker?

Just wondering what the easiest way to drop the tranny is without having a picker. I have everything ready to drop except the bolts holding it to the block. I just want to get this out so I can get my OS swapped over to the new tranny once it arrives

A guy underneath to pull it away from engine, if he is strong enough he can do it himself.

Also, if you take a 2x4 and some rope you can tie a loop around the trans and then use the 2x4 as a lever on the intake manifold. Has worked well with my dad and I.

Lean over the fender and pull it off, then set it on the ground.

lol, have you ever tried to take out a tranny? these things require twisting and are a BITCH! hmmm.... ill have to see what I can do. Just wish jfast lived closer to me. 2 hrs sucks

I can't count how many 3s, and awd dsm transmissions I've done this way.

Maybe a non turbo 3S......sure as hell not doing that with a 6-speed.

Just installed a 6 speed this way about 2 weeks ago. I rebuilt the trans for a local, and he couldn't get it back on. I went over and stabbed it on it about 5 minutes. I'm 6' about 210, and don't think I'm super human strong, but I'm guessing you guys are smaller guys.

He swapped my car from automatic to manual in about two days. So I would assume he knows what he is talking about.

im 6'1 235 and like to chew on iron when im bored ;). im a pretty big dude and have retard strength, so im sure it wont be too hard. Just never done it alone before

I stopped trying lifting transmissions in by hand years ago... It was fine once in a while, but working on them for a living, it just wasn't worth the risk of hurting yourself. All it takes is one wrong move to throw your back out and you're done...

You can use the same procedure as the picker, just use a 2X4 and a ratchet strap. It's a little slow but it gets the job done.

Personally, I just put the car up on the lift and use my transmission jack.... :D
