what is a good temperature to take cars out that arent stock :)

So, the car has been pretty much shut down in the garage for the winter because 1. cold as hell (about 35 and under last few weeks, 50's here and there then more coldness), 2. tons of snow. So, i usually wont take out the beast unless its going to be atleast 55 degrees outside.

Now Ive heard that when its really cold, our intercoolers can create a ton of moisture inside. I just heard this recently and was wondering if it can hurt our cars. We should have a few warm days this week and besides the fact that cold=hard tires= no traction, i want to take her for a ride.

But, i know its sort of a newbie question, but is there a certain temperature our cars shouldnt be driven? I always thought the colder outside the better more HP our cars gains (well, all cars in general).

I would drive my car in subzero temps and not worry about it..... Don't do anything involving 2nd gear, wot, and turns and you will be OK.

Also, if you have your boost controller set to, let's say, 20psi in the summer, and you go out in 20 degrees you would probably see something like 23, be sure to lower it a bit :)

For what it's worth, when I bought my Stealth, I drove it home from Denver to Upper Michigan through a winter storm where temps didn't get above about 10F.

Drove the hell out of it, and it ran flawlessly. :)

I'd drive it in any temp with appropriate prep. Once it gets down below 0 you might want a block heater just to keep the oil warm for starts, but normal maintenance should easily handle the rest of it.

I drive it when ever I feel like driving it. Regardless of what is going on outside. :)

The weather isnt going to hurt it in anyway but you will make a lot more power because of the dense cold air ;).

That's true. :wink:

I wouldn't drive it around in freezing/near freezing temps. 55-65 degrees is probably the sweet spot for power and reliability. At that temp, you take advantage of the colder, denser air, your intercoolers run cooler, but it's warm enough that your tranny/engine oil flows well, and all the rubber bushings/cv boots aren't in danger of cracking from the cold.
