Is there any better source out there?
Magnaflow 60011 4" Universal Diesel Converter
It doesn't really LOOK like the traditional, hideously ugly cat I'm used to. Will emissions give me any grief during the visual inspection?
Thanks,
Adam

Bah, "(These universal converters are specially formulated to control diesel exhaust.)" .......
Random tech sells a 5" dia. 4" in/out cat in two flavors, a street/race model and a less dense race only model but still fairly functional.
Its of the same style/look as the magnaflow you were originally looking at.

When I contacted them about that this was their response:
Certainly an option, but the last thing I want is to install this thing and then find I need more cat.Quote:
We sell part number 151-40000 {Round, Metal Matrix (Race Style)} for $316.92 Attached is a picture of one.
We do not make the 9000 Series {Oval, Ceramic, 9000 Series -- 4" inlet/outlet} in 4" anymore, sorry.
Fwiw, I passed the now fairly strict de emissions with their 3" hf cat. So I guess it would depend how how stringent the test is.
Jason
That was your only cat, right? Did you heat it up before hand?
Yeah..only one and yes it was up to temp for the test.
Jason
Hmm sadly the best universals I know of are the Thunderbolt universals, but they are 3" :(
LSx guys run these with great success...and they be cheap yo.

Debating actually catting my Goat, if I do these are going on.
Nice link, Mike.
Plus a couple of these, and maybe we're on to something: Concentric Reducer, 4 x 3 In, 304L SS - Stainless Steel Pipe Fittings - Fittings - 1RTX3 : Grainger Industrial Supply
But of course that's schedule 40, so WAY thicker than the rest of my exhaust tubing.
Move to a place that doesn't check them. :p
