Negative, you can't run high boost
Positive, you get more power than the 8:1 engines would at low boost.
Negative side effects, You turn the boost up too high and blow the engine.
Positive outcome, You keep the boost low and get some good power out of stock turbos running about 8psi.
I've ran turbos on 10:1 NA engine and it's a lot of fun. The power is great down low and it always comes to life instantly. Of course you will be able to get more power out of an 8:1 TT engine by running more boost but if you're happy with modest power with great response there is nothing wrong with it.
My TT is currently running an N/A block at 10:1 and as long as the tune it good you won't have any issues. I'm currently running at 9-10psi and she runs strong as hell with no knock. I just installed a meth kit which should allow me to turn up the boost to 14-15 psi.
All I have to tune with is an SAFC2 and it only needed minor adjustments in certain rpm ranges.
Just make sure the N/A block is solid and it will handle the boost. Don't go crazy and tune slowly and safely.
