Not too much different on the outside, but THANK GOD they finally put in an ability to setup a custom fan ramp up based on speeds. I used to just set my fan to about 70% and call it a day, but now I ca start the ramp up to keep my temps below the 80*C threshold.
I guess I can finally set Precision to start with windows and have a good fan profile.

Yeah I've been using MSI Afterburner just because I like the custom fan profile and how easy it is to use ( I prefer aggressive fan settings) It's about time they added it to Precision lol.
That was my biggest gripe. I don't like my gpu getting above 80*C, and prefer to keep it in the low 70's if I can. The stock fan profile lets it ramp to 85* and then holds it there. That's just a *bit* too high for me. I don't like that kind of heat running around in my case, especially since it's being generated right under the space heater I call my CPU. Get that heat OUT of my case!!
Yep likewise. I have three gtx 260's in trisli at the moment so they run a lot warmer than they normally would to begin with, but with fans at 100% by 65c then don't go much over 67 :) If you have a new 4xx series card though, low 70's is probably the best you can hope for lol. They run mighty mighty hot!
Of course, with fans at 100% and there being three of them it can get a bit loud :( Thankfully it's still hot and the air conditioners run and cover much of it up!
My 295 gtx gets pretty damn hot :/ I have a coolermaster HAF 932 (full tower 3 9" fans) and the GPU gets pretty hot, its pushing 90 C when playing starcraft 2, and gets that hot playing Crysis, too. The fan is freakin loud at 100% but I dont like the heat either so I have to deal with it :/
You guys should test your rigs and see if you run into the same thing I did. Between 70% and 100% the temps might drop 1-2* tops under load. I don't feel that 2* drop is worth all the extra noise generated. At least that's my experience with the GTX 285.
Can you set up profiles to ramp up the GFX card fan when it gets hotter? Helps with noise quite a bit.

You can set 10 profiles and assign them to hot keys. And if you OC, you can tie different fan profiles to different overclocks so you can be more aggressive the more you crank the clocks.Quote:
