So you're wanting to keep parts from the SL for the VR4 motor?
Crank, pistons, rods, are all different. Bracketry should be the same. I wouldn't be surprised if power steering/alternator/AC are the same. Coils might be the same. Outside of that, I can't think of anything that would even make sense for you to keep? What's the goal here? Just to have extra stuff?
For the short block, only the rods are the same. Pistons, crank and block are different. Heads are different. Lifters, springs and lash adjusters are the same. Cams are different.
Alt, AC and PS pump are the same, PS reservoir is different.
Coils, PTU are the same.
Coolant neck is different
Rear and DS motor mount are the same. Front is different.
Yes just for spare parts have to rebuild the vr4 motor also....
93+ cranks are the same forged.

I got interrupted by actual work earlier, so my half typed response got delayed... Forest answered in the meantime.
Crankshafts are the same.... Cast for 91-92 all models, forged steel 93-up all models. Turbo models all had an alignment pin for the flywheel that would need to be pressed into one that was originally an N/A crank. (if you want it to be OE correct.)
Didn't know cranks were the same! Really thought the SL cranks were weaker
The blocks are different???
The Turbo block has oil squirters that squirt oil on the underside of the piston to cool it down. N/A blocks do not have the oil squirters.
