Replaced driver's side door. Can't unlock with the key?

Hey guys. I just replaced my driver's side door (92 3000GT to a 97 3000GT) and swapped my original lock cylinder over. When the door is physically open, I can lock and unlock the lock with the key no problem. But when the door is shut, I can't unlock it from the outside.

I noticed the lock cylinder that was on the 97 door had 3 wires running to it, while the lock on my old 92 door had 2 wires running to it. Currently, the wires running from the door lock cylinder are disconnected, but I can still actuate the lock with the switch with no issues. What are these wires for exactly?

Can anyone point me to a solution? When I put the key in the lock it turns in the unlock direction, but stops JUST short of unlocking the door.

So when the door is open, can you lock/unlock with the key when the latch is fully "closed"? Double check all your linkages are OK, otherwise swap out the latch assembly from the old door. It sounds like the latch is worn, or a linkage is bent.

Yes. When the door is open I can lock/unlock the door. Even by jamming a screwdriver into the latch to simulate a closed door. With the screwdriver in the latch, it takes a couple of tries, but it eventually unlocks.

Fixed it. Swapped the entire latch assembly. Works perfectly.
