I need some advice/ help with my cars terribly weird jerking!

My 92 stealth es is acting up! Under certain circumstances the engine will feel like it's "dropping" as if is was cutting out, however it doesn't and just revs back up. this all happens in like 1-2 second increments. It happens when pushing the gas pedal past a certain point and in the mid range to high rpms. It doesn't go away unless I turn the car off. Then back on but eventually it always comes back. I can only relate it feeling like going reaaally slow in a high gear sorta a back and forth jerk. help....

The obvious first place to check is the caps in the ECU.

How old are the plugs and wires? They could also cause what you are experiencing.

I replaced the tps, plugs, wires, coil packs, and fuel filter within a month.

How hard is the ECU to get at?

It's very easy.

Now do you think this is what lies as the cause? Could a vacuum leak cause the issue I'm describing? There is a hiss when the car is turned off, and when reving the car using the throttle shaft I hear a hiss seemingly come from it

First gens are notorious for ECU cap leaking and can very well cause the issues you are having.

A hiss with the car off would not be a vacuum leak as there should be no vacuum with it not running. Even if there is a small vacuum leak at the TB it wouldn't cause the severe hesitation you are describing.

Any mods? I've seen a TT do something similar with a bad MAF.

Add cam/crank sensor to the list of reasons. I've had that happen 3 hours from home.

The only mod I have is a hps air intake system with a k&n filter, I bought a remanufactured MAF but it made it idle bad compared to the old one, so I'm sticking with the original. It may have an EGR delete but I'm not too sure what to look for. Also for the Cam sensor, is that interchangable between all years? I did notice a price difference for my gen, I'd rather not spend an extra 40$ I'm also seeing something off of stealth316 called the CAS is that the cam sensor you speak of?
