Stainless td05/06 bolt on adapter housing

So this has been a gripe of mine, as well as some others spoiled by convenience in the dsm community and massive aftermarket (donniekak, I'm looking at you haha) and I've come up with a solution that would further advance our platform as a whole......


Just like the title says. TD05 stainless exhaust housings to bolt on IN PLACE of your stock headers and dp.

Literally makes anything with a td05/06 chra and td05/06 turbine BOLT ON.

Dramatically cuts costs with removing necessity of headers, precats and dps made to fit.
eliminates the need to purchase 2 seperate performance exhausts to run your turbos (converting from td04 to td05)

(fringe benefit: no more dealing with cracked headers from thinwall stainless kits)

that means the following install like cake
14B's
16g's
big 16g's
evo3's
20g's
25g's
60-1's
anything FP
anything from billet turbochargers.



The best part is, these only would cost 300 per stainless housing.

I contacted Bill at Bullseye performance to inquire about doing some and he responded with "We can make them again but would need a 20 pc min order, price is $299.99 ea."

these plus the td05's themselves are cheaper than most big td04 hybrid upgrades guys.

I'm also inquiring about setting up for t3 adapter housings as well.

Essentially this just needs 10 guys to place orders for their cars as we're in business

doesnt really make any sense to me. an exhaust housing cannot replace both exh manifolds and downpipe (o2 housings).

do you mean a td05-sized turbine housing accepting td05 turbine wheels that simply has td04 flange patterns? this is the only thing that i can picture.

if so, theyd have to be internally gated. flapper details?
dunno if i would call this "bolt on" like a td04 replacement:
would also still potentially have fitment issues with the comp covers etc since theyve never been tested.
would also still have to figure out clocking, actuators, charge piping, oil/water lines, intakes...

I guess I could exhibit a little more clarity when describing what it actually is, but its just an exhaust housing man.

to the rest of your observations:
1)Yes, they're internal. No details at the moment as he hasn't shared them. I'm assuming std td05 sizing, but I could inquire if they start with 38mm sized flappers off the bat

2) Its a bolt on if it interfaces with the factory hardware seamlessly. You can literally bolt it on without custom modification to the stock hardware, I fail to see where there's room for interpretation with that principle relative to these and what they innately are....as they actually DO replace the td04? Not sure where your going with this.

3) true, unless geometry is altered from where the turbo chra ACTUALLY sits, vs the flanging, observe an evoX hotside and notice the flanges are projected, or a borg warner k04. Similar could happen here.

4) the lines/wg/covers/ect would be on the person who's planning on filling the hotside with a snail and what they want to stuff it with, not really a pertinent point from the offering side of things. If they want to get creative and stuff something massive and custom in there, it's their baby. To entertain and address this concern however, its been done in the past with adapter plates, these aren't any different - other than they save you from buying extra gaskets and precats to mate to your dp/td05 setup. Also theres enough billet/generic actuators and compressor housings to satisfy all levels of clocking and compressor size.

Okay... I guess that in that sense the housings do "bolt on" in that they attach to stock hardware with stock bolts, but when I hear that term used, it usually means that the part is a plug-n-play replacement.

When you say "bolt on" and say that anything like a 25g, 60-1, etc etc will "install like cake" it makes it sound like I can grab a pair of td06s with a pair of these hotsides and install them with nothing more than some wrenches. I just can't see this happening without a lot of customization.

As somebody who has used both adapter plates and modified manifolds, I would be extremely skeptical. With the tight spaces in these engine bays, turbo placement is incredibly important and by simply replacing the turbine housings, it sounds like placement is not taken into account at all? Or am I wrong and these turbine housings are somehow specifically designed around the 3S engine bay?

I still think that this is a very interesting idea, I just think that it isn't quite as simple as your post makes it sound.

They would have to be, because the 3/s TD04 turbine housings are unique to the 3/s.

if we want to share fab experience, as someone whos previously stuffed a turbo the size of a basketball under his hood, or who is currently running custom 18g sized td04's in there, let me express that I understand your concerns for fitment and am WELL aware of how tight these bays can be and how difficult it is to properly cinch things up, keep oil lines at grade, ect ect.

The purpose of this would to be to provide a less involved solution to convert to td05's

The point of these housings IS to make it that easy, and to remove the exhaust system swapping from the equation as well as reduce overall costs to convert. It will be designed with compressor cover clearances in mind as well as line placement

I'm interested in seeing where this goes even though I'm not ready to upgrade turbos again just yet. $600 is very affordable. Fitment seems like it would be hard to design although I'm sure these guys know what they're doing.
